Lights Flickering even after Relay Upgrade

I just completed the relay upgrade to the lights on my 69.  Last night was the first night I had the car out and noticed the lights are brighter, but they dim abruptly and the ammeter shows a discharge at the same time.  Even without the lights on, the ammeter will suddenly drop, then charge, then drop, then charge.
Because the lights also dim, this tells me that it would be the alternator or battery, as the voltage regulator is currently bypassed in the wiring to the headlights due to the relay upgrade, correct?

relay upgrade has nothing to do with regulator.

the ammeter drop is ONE or SEVERAL of this conditions.

-Low alternator capacity
-regulator fail
-conector, terminals loosen dirty or corroed.
-Batt damaged.

Funny HUH ?

a dimming lights and/or dropping ammeter needdle is pretty much normal on Mopars and is what causes fail on all the system when you rev up the engine

Need to consider where to hooks relays when you have an ammeter on line, and the right place is at alt side

I believe the car was doing this even before I did the relay upgrade.  I'll start by getting the battery and alternator checked.
