I'm in Portland but it's real similar. Right now it's 72 and I don't think it's gotten over 80 more than about 6-7 times this summer so far. Maybe twice it's gotten over 90. The past two years here have been much cooler on average in both the summer and winter. We had several days last winter that fell and stayed below freezing where normally we only have a few.

ACUDANUT

Yea, the only thing to do in Kansas right now is to hide inside and drink cold beer...It's never been This Hot before.
Heck I think last year it never was over 90....BTW it was 112 Yesterday in Gardner Ks, and that's not counting the humidity or heat index. :brickwall:

Depends on who you talk to. As you and I stated above it's been colder than average on the west coast.

on a serious note, not that i'm ever anything but serious,.. The best explaination I heard from a NASA Meteorologist - was thet the traditional low that is usually at the U.S./Canada border had dropped south to the Calif/Ore. Border redirecting the usual weather southward.
This was about a yr. ago and seems spot on.

Also on a serious note.  The Farmers and Ranchers in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas have lost millions in Cattle/Corn/Beans and Hay. :brickwall:

Man I heard that! I'm close to you, in McPherson. It's been horrible, think we are up to 37 days over 100 degrees  :brickwall: I still can't stay away from driving my Charger though, even with no AC  :shruggy: Tried to retreat to Colorado for a while and my door got kicked in, had to come back here to roast  :brickwall:

The last summer here where I live, we had 3 1/2 weeks straight of temperatures no less than 113. We even reached 122 on a couple of days! It is amazing how easily you can adapt when you don't have a choice

What really sucked about this year was it was record cold in Feb. and snow well into March. We was camping On Memorial day and it was cool, drizzle and had our heater on. After that we had a couple of nice weeks, the AC has been on since.
