I should post my Seattle "Museum Of Flight" pics here...
:popcrn:

Okay, I'm just going to start dumping them for now because I've only got a few minutes here but later I'll try to add the lot of them...

Great pics! The P-38 Lightning... my favorite!! :2thumbs:

Here's some more. Never thought I'd see the inside of Air Force One or the Concorde but here's the pics. This particular AF1 is from the Kennedy/Johnson/Nixon era.

I thought I had some pictures of the inside of the Concorde and some from the back but I don't see them. These pictures don't do it justice because I was really surprised how big the thing was, mostly at the back. Giant engines and a small fuselage, as you might expect. I imagine there weren't too many fat people riding as passengers in the thing because it is quite narrow inside.

bull

Well, this is all of them, I think. All I can find that are worth posting anyway.

:2thumbs: Many of the items/vehicles in the space exploration area were replicas (the moon buggy was one for sure) but this rover below was kind of a special replica. IIRC it was made by Nasa as an exact scale model for training purposes.

:2thumbs: Good work. Thanks. That Lockheed Constellation (Connie) is a thing of beauty!

bull

I'm always struck with the beauty of the WWII fighters. I'd never really seen a Corsair up close and it really is a sexy plane. Apparently that's why I took so many pictures of it. I love the P-38 and P-51 too. :2thumbs:

Yes, that tail is really something. I wish I could have gotten more pics of it but we were running out of time in that particular area of the museum and it was difficult to get the whole thing in frame. All the planes in that section were mammoth. This one is a Lockheed L-1049G Super Constellation by the way.

a lot of folks don't know the Connie was a Kelly Johnson design. Thanks Bull those were excellent.  :2thumbs:

Curtis,

I work right across the street from the Museum of Flight. But, I only go over there for a tour about once a  year. The Boeing Test Pilots that I support like to go there for lunch  (I wonder why?). It really is a treasure.

Right now the Blue Angels are parked there for a week practicing for their performance at Seafair this week end. I am on the top floor of my building and they rattle the walls everytime they take off. Very Cool!

BTW, my dad designed the infrared detection suite on the SR71 before it was declassified.

I thought about you when we were up there, Mark, but I had no idea which part of the complex you worked in. Had I planned ahead a little and contacted you we could have met you for lunch or something.

triple_green

that would have been cool!  When I went out for lunch today the Blue Angels wer practicing thieir routines for Seafair and it was TOTALLY AWESOME!!

Nothing like the planes rushing by low at at near the speed of sound....

The Boys and I might go to the Hydros on Sat or Sun.

Mom is out of town so the boys might play  :icon_smile_cool:

I always thought the museum was named incorrectly.....shouldn't and "Air and Space" museum just be an empty building?  :D
