We went to DC over the weekend and stopped by the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. Very cool place. A lot of historic exhibits nicely displayed. Here are a few pics for you aviation fans!  :2thumbs:

The first pic is a 1928 Ford Tri-Motor . My dad and I went to the EAA AirVenture at Oshkosh one year and took a ride in one. Awesome time!  :2thumbs:

The Keith Ferris full size wall mural "Fortress Under Fire" is so accurate and detailed that the crew in the cockpit of the lead aircraft Thunder Bird looks like they could move at any moment. Even the BF-109 pilot shown in the background was interviewed for details of that moment in history. Pics of the crew of the Thunder Bird on the page below.

It alone is worth the trip...and there's SO much more there that I didn't photograph. The Imax movies are cool too. Then there's the Udvar-Hazy Center in Va. that's like an annex to the Museum that has a HUGE collection. I need to get there too...someday.

Nice pics!  One of my favorite places to visit in DC.

I could spend a month there daydreaming, wishing I could fly in half of them.
I just climbed into the only flying B-29 called "Fi-Fi"  I could not afford 1000 bucks for a actual 30 min flight...The P-51 cost 1600 for 20 minutes...Oh well, I got some awesome video of the only B-29 that is flying.
Some day when I win the lottery, I can take a few flights.

I should post my Seattle "Museum Of Flight" pics here...

I took my dad out to the Blairstown, Pa. airport a few years ago for a flight in a North American AT-6 for Father's Day. I think it was around $350.00 for a 20 min flight and you could take the controls if you wanted! It was a day I'll never forget!  :2thumbs: Maybe there's something like that near you?
