From the sound of it, the SRT8 Charger and Challenger are getting a supercharger late in the 2012 calender year (2013 model year) It will put out anywhere from 540-570HP! Lets see Chevy and Ford put that in their pipes and try and smoke it!

And some Shelby Mustangs will be making 800hp.

Shelby......Not Ford. That opens it up to the Hennessy's, Mr. Norm's ETC in my book.

If there's one thing I have learned in the last 26? years of Mopar ownership, it is that Chrysler DESPISES manual trannies. Trying to find a pentastar branded car to drive is like doing your own root canal sans painkillers.

The only Shelby I know of is a FORD GT SHELBY

Not a Ford?  :shruggy:

Ford already made 500HP with the Gt40 back in the 60s, and the new FORD GT makes 550 and 750bhp, so its already been done.

I'd bet that it'll be another 8 large (at least) over the base SRT.  :yesnod:

My point is it is not a normal Ford - It is a Shelby deal.

MY opinion is Chrysler learned from the Ford guys and the Warranty claims on the Weak T-5. Warranty coverages will eat you alive if you stick an aluminum straight drive behind a 600 HP car...It's destined to break...

Well while the Super Snake is around 800 hp, the next GT500 is rumored to have anywhere between 570-620 hp.

The Z28 coming out soon has a supercharger...basically the same setup as the CTS-V...and most of those dyno with 550+ rwhp.

I'm wondering who will step up to the plate and offer the first 1,000 HP muscle car?  :icon_smile_wink:

Huh? Anything (new) with a Shelby badge on it goes from the Ford plant to the Shelby plant for modifications. Same as Rousch, Saleen, and anyone else doing after market conversions. You can buy them at the Ford dealer and even get some sort of warranty but they are NOT solely created at Ford. The latest "Ford GT" has nothing at all to do with Shelby (they're actually painted at Saleen's facility). Technically, the original GT40 cars weren't a creation of Shelby either and I don't believe any were branded with that name. Shelby did take over the race program after a rough start.

So, to the point, an SVT Cobra, Challenger SRT-8, Camaro Super Sport, or Cadillac CTS-V are factory built cars and you should be able to compare them across the line. Shelby, Hennessy, and all the other tuners make purpose-built, limited edition cars that should be compared separately. I do have to note that I can get a Shelby GT500 Mustang for not much more than a Challenger SRT-8 at this time so, if you're comparing price vs performance I think you have to allow for "whatever is available".

IF,...big If, they get a SC, those Chargers and Challengers will be sitting on the side of the road waiting for a flatbed/tow truck, while the owners are texting the dealer for their NEXT appointment for ANOTHER 3rd member, after trying to blow off a Camaro or Mustang at the light after the resulting wheel hop littered the road with rear gear carnage :icon_smile_big:

SRT-440

Camaros have bad wheel hop also...hopefully the factory will adress the suspension when increasing the HP by that much.  :shruggy:
