At what age, did you buy your first Dodge Charger?

40yrs old.  At 15, my Chevy-guy father said, "NO DODGE!".  So, I bought a 69 Mach I for $400.  I wish I had just bought a Charger and saved a bunch of $$ buying one so much later, since he didn't love Ford either.

16 yrs old in '81. Bought a B5 '69 318/auto for $750. I think the car is still in the Eugene Oregon area.

18 years old in 1983 for $500. Didnt know what I had until I saw an early edition of mopar muscle magazine.  Still have it. Red/black 1968

I was 26 in 1994 when I bought my 70 R/T for $4500.  All original and rust free except that the lower quarters and trunk floor were rusted out from the back window leaking.  I drove it 200 miles home (but that's another story).  I had always liked 68-70 Chargers since I found one in a junkyard that my dad used to go to in the late 70's.  I was about 10 and I'd go sit in junk cars and pretend to drive while he was getting the part he needed off some other car.  Not sure what year it was but it was a 68-70 and I thought it was the best looking car I had ever seen.  Then in the mid 80's I was in high school and working evenings washing cars and sweeping up a body shop and they had a 68 red with black top R/T come in for a repaint.  It's the only muscle car I remember in the 4 years I worked there.  At that time restoration wasn't a big $ thing so most people weren't paying for paint jobs on 15-20 year old cars they were fixing up and all those cars were pretty much rusted out by that time where I lived anyway (MN).  I got to drive it in and out of the shop a few times, moving it to clean up.  I'd just sit in it for a while it was so neat.  Those two chargers were why I wanted one.

16.  bought an orange '71. was a 383 car, but had a 318  3 speed in it.

Gave $400 for this in 1986 at the age of 29. 318 with a 3 on the tree and I still have it.  These pics were taken probably 5 or 6 years later.

summer between junior and senior year of highschool..1986.  I was 16. paid 1100.00 for it.  It was slow, had questionable wiring, rust, bondo, 1/2 that carpet missing, 1/2 the interior was from a 69 or 70.... Best move I ever made.

I was 21...10 years ago.  Paid $3000 for it and a 68 to go with it.  I sold the 68 and some other parts I didn't need for what I paid for everything so I kind of ended up getting it for nothing.

I was 17, it was 1986. I tried to buy a canary yellow 1970 318 originally 3spd on the column but had 4 speed truck tranny butchered into it. The neighbor wouldn't sell it. So I bought his 68 Newport instead for $150 and it was a great running / driving car... a few months later he GAVE me the Charger (he was getting divorced). sorry no pics.

I was 19 and the year was 1979, I bought a 68 383, 4 barrel, 4 speed charger for 1500 after selling a 383, 4 barrel, 4 speed 70 runner for 500.

I got my first 1969 Charger at the age 16 in 1977. Paid $ 175.00 for it. 318 auto. Someone had put a 4 bll on it and it ran great, the body wasn't so great but no rust. Drove for about a year, sold to buy another 69 318 auto 1 owner car. Its was a White hat Special. Great car for a 16 year old. I did find a 69 R/T that I wanted, but Dad said no big blocks boy.

At age 18, in the mid '70s I purchased a 1966 Charger (383 4-bbl) for the sum of $500.00.  Still remember carrying the $500.00 cash in my wallet to the car lot.  Did the minor body work and interior work it needed then traded within six months to Downey Dodge for a super nice 1969 Charger RT/SE.  The '69 was Orange (long before the Duke boys) with a white half vinyl top and tan interior.  Fully loaded 440 automatic car with everything but sunroof.  The half vinyl top was applied by George Barris of Batmoblie fame, I kept the chrome from it and will be reinstalling it on my Daytona Clone in the future.

I was 16, in 1999. I sold everything but my family to get that car. $1,400 and all my friends laughed because they had cars already ( everyday cars) and I was still riding the bus.  The next school year though ( my senior year) the car was done- and they didn't laugh anymore!  Since then I have gone on to become a body shop teacher, and the car is undergoing a rotisserie deal as we speak. Oh yeah, it's also a Genny Lee, and yes, I drove it to high school that way!

i was 19. i had just got back from basic training at ft. leonardwood, mo. in feb. of 85. a classmate of mine had traded his 73 rallye to my landlord who owned a bodyshop and car dealership in sedalia, mo. sold the car to a local salvage yard and purchased a 74 charger se for 300.00. have heard the rallye is sitting beside a shop in sedalia, mo. its still tan with red primer on it. sweet!

Just because you mega helped another member when he was down and out and ready to get rid of his car doesn't mean you're all that close to the big guy!!  Hmmm... ah, actually maybe you are... but who knows, maybe you lost some ground with that "old as dirt" comment.  Yeah!  Somehow I feel like I'm boxing myself into a corner...
