I am in desperate need of some new upper door pads, but my rear uppers are in great shape.
Does anyone have the new ones put out by Legendary that they could maybe post a comparison
picture of the grain, or does anyone have linked where this might've already been covered?
I know the grains are close but not exact. Also, how difficult would it be to buy new saddle pads
from Legendary and color match/paint my rear pads?  :shruggy: :Twocents:

I just put my new uppers on (fronts so far), waiting for the end of the season to pull my rears.  They're from Legendary.  And yes, I know I have yet to paint my door frame black.   :2thumbs:

I bought BE&A's Tan upper door pads which are quite a bit cheaper then Legendarys'. The BE&A tan also closely matches the Legendary saddle door panels and seat covers that I have. The BE&A pads also come with the medallions which don't come with the Legendary pads.

I don't have a good close up picture of the grain but can get one if your interested in one.

Here's a picture because I had nothing better to do ....

Looks like similar grain to the photos Dan posted, just harder to see due to the lighter color..

I had heard of concerns with fit.  Anybody else?  A mopar resto. shop owner told me about repro's being a little too long when the door is shut and the clips tend to pop loose.  Maybe that has been corrected???

Those are both nice  the legendary one do not come with Medallions ? how are they attached to the pad?

Thanks so much for the pictures! Both look nicer than I expected. 440, did you buy the dash pad too? What all of your interior did you replace?

Charger-Bodie

I have B/E&A pads on mine and the fit decent. They certainly dont pop off when you close the door. Not on my car anyway.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

I've seen both in person. and you are not going to be able to mix originals with repops. grain differences will never match

It's either all 4 repops or all 4 originals

My dash pad is B/E & A's.  I have a thread in here somewhere with photos of it next to my old original one, it fit perfectly.  My new upper/lower door pads are all Legendary.  I got the medallions from PG Classics and mounted them with 3M's emblem adhesive.

Hello tylerk,
I did get BE&A's tan dash pad, most said to stay away from the legendary pad... I bought it along with BE&A's front/rear upper door pads so that the color and grain matched throughout. Surprisingly the tan matches Legendary's saddle door panels and seat covers almost perfectly. My car already had new seat covers, door panels and carpet when I got it.

The other pieces I got were also BE&A's A pillar moldings, arm rests, and plastic dash fascia.

My kick panels are original and the repop A-pillar grain matches it almost perfectly as well, I did get some new kick panels to replace them but was anything but impressed. They were made by "Dashtop" and instead of a molded standoff on the back of the kick panel they give you a plastic spacer to use. The grain was so far off I almost noticed it before I even opened the box    The grain more resembled the large pebble texture of the dash fascia so  :eek2:  out of sight they went straight away.

Hope this helps you.

I will have to go dig up my original seat cover to confirm, but wasn't the original configuration such that in 1969 the grain of the upper door pads matched the grain of the vinyl used for the seat inserts on non SE's? The seat would have 2 grains, the heavy graining for the sturdy outer area and the finer grain the the cushioned soft area making up the rectangle pattern? If so, does Legendary match these grains?
