Hi all, it's a '71 Charger, 440, 30 over, with a comp cam 268/454, Torker II, Holley 750 vac sec, 906 heads, six pack rods, Hooker super comp headers, electronic egnition, electric fuel pump, Supertrapp mufflers, TCI street fighter 727w/ GER 2800 stall converter & Cheetah reverse manual valve body, 8 3/4 rear w/ 430's. The cam is real smooth no problems, could I have juiced more power there, or leave well enough alone?

Oh, btw, pic: (pic whore, lol!)

You absolutly left some power on the table , Firstly the Comps are designed for Chev & copied for Mopar
Lunati VooDoo series cams are designed for the wider .906 Mopar lifter , if you want to stay with a hyd cam you can look at the 60303 cam , should pick up 30 HP easily . you rduration may not change a lot allow for good idle & vacuum but the under the curve Valve timing will increase as well as lift .
Your call on wether it is worth changing it out .

Chryco! long time without see you!!!

AS I have learnt and compared, the  Crower 282HDP sounds like a very good option too, although the intake lift could be something better ( recently choosed that one for me ) if we compare with the 271HDP

No disrespect, but I was told those were moPar 6-pack #'s (454/268), so how can that be designed for Chevy?

justcruisin

What is meant by mopar cam is the rate of lift, the Chevy cam is ground to suit the size of their .842" lifter and the comp cam you have uses the same profiles just on a mopar core. Cam design has changed in the last 40 years when the 6 pack cam was made. The mopar lifter measures .904" which allows for a faster rate of lift - more open time for a given duration. The lifter in a flat tappet cam is what determains the maximum rate of lift - the larger the diameter the faster the valve can be lifted without the cam contacting the edge of the lifter. As Chryco said the Lunati voodoo grinds are based on the .904 lifter.

I don't mean to hijack...I actually called Lunati today to specifically ask about their cam design for Mopars. Their tech guy told me that all of the cams they sell for Mopars are designed around the lifter size. This includes the Voodoo, Street Master, High Efficiency, Factory Performance. The cams for other manufacturer's are also designed specific to that application. I hope this helps. Just like Chryco said, everybody elses design uses the Chevy and copying for everything else. (Except Engle and Mr. Six Pack - who has Engle grind his).
