Nov 6, 1970.....Would be for a 71

Cool. The tailshaft does not have two shifter mount locations, just the one in front of the crossmember. so would that mean it's an earlyer tailshaft?

It could be an over the counter piece that was sold for an A-body application.

Either that, or someone modified it, A body four speeds had the single shifter mounting point.

I don't think the shorter A-Body tailshaft would fit on an 18 spline Barry......But now I am entering the Land of Guesses!

Think 1968 Hemi 4-speed Super Stock A-bodies.  :scratchchin:

The page at http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/hipoParts/1971/Hustle%20Stuff%20catalog%20-%201971%20%20041.jpg from the 1971 Hustle Stuff catalog mentions a 18 spline slick shift A-body four speed.

With no VIN, one shifter mounting point & 18 splines, my best guess is that this is what you have.

The shifter mounting point is in front of the crossmember witch I thought was for b/c body vehicles, if it was an a-body it would be behind the crossmember mount. Right?  :shruggy: It seems to long to be an a-body trans. I'll try and post pics tomorrow of the trans.

the shifter is mounted on a custom bracket that moves it back to fit an a-body i think. i plan on removing the bracket and maybe replacing the shifter with a pistol grip.  :2thumbs:
