Time to get rid of the chrome under the hood

I've never really been a fan of chrome on the engine of a car so I wanted to get rid of my Moroso Valve Covers and cheap no name air cleaner.

Picked up this set for $100 plus the cost of shipping.

Can't wait until they get here! The local auto parts stores wanted $250 to order this set (cost, shipping, and taxes) so jumped on the deal personally.

If you are going to install aftermarket pieces for dressing up the Dart, you can't do much better than MOPAR Performance parts. Great deal on some very nice looking parts. I hope they get there quick and look as good as they do in the picture.

Moroso anodized valve covers and air cleaners look pretty trick... That set you have is a staple though

FLG

I don't like chrome valve covers either...

Billet aluminum on the other hand....half my engine is dressed in it.

Good pick up  :2thumbs:

That's what is going on mine.

I'm not a fan of excessive chrome in an engine bay unless it is a trailer queen and not a daily driver

I prefer the completely stock look.

Or what passes for stock. I had this idea a while ago, and last weekend I found that my idea has already been done!

I don't want to open up my hood and see my reflection in a chrome engine, that just ruins the beauty of the experience for me.....

Now all you have to do is grind down all fins & Mopar logos so they're smooth, paint them the engine color & you're all set.   :2thumbs:

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

Khyron

my motor is black with aluminum, no chrome for me :-) I bought a set of fabricated aluminum valve covers, just need the time to put them on :)

Anyone else do this?

I wonder what they used for the clear? I would think that basic polycarbonate would melt and that glass would not handle the heat cycles or vibration well. Not to mention if it broke it would drop glass bits into the intake...  :eek2:

Interesting idea none the less. Not really my favorite but fun to see the bits moving.

Dang, that is a heck of a deal for $100.  I am not a fan of chrome, but the two places I'll work with it are under the hood and on the wheels, although I prefer aluminum.  I still have the chrome Erson covers on the Charger, but have some frankenstein'd Indy covers for the stroker...I have the black MP on the Duster...that is the iconic look imo.  I do have some blue anodized MP covers for another 440...and 2 sets of stockers...guess I can swap around for the season, lol.

Hard to beat the black MP covers imo though...they will likely top off the stroker motor when it is done...

my 440 SIX-PACK short block came with the Chrome Dress Up Valve covers, I don't know any A-12 guys who have those, but since the guy who I bought the motor from raced MOPARs since the Max Wedge Days. he might've got them from an earlier Mope, I've never been clear on the "Engine Dress Up" package and what cars and Yrs they were Avail. on.

terrible one
