What do you think of this Charger for sale?

It's black, has AC, and a metal top.  All features I like.  It's automatic, so not "perfect" to me.  ;)

Says a lot of money has been spent -- almost too much to believe.  How can you spend over $100k on a restoration and still have brown gauges??????????

Any comments (pro/con) based on description & photos?

I think somewhere around the starting bid price is fair.

Back N Black

There is no way he spent 100K on that car. If the gauges are brown, its safe to say it has original wiring .

Kern Dog

Its a nice looking car, but.....
I'd be wary of the guy for a few reasons. First up, there is no such thing as a "frame off" restoration on a unibody car. This is a man that tosses out NON Mopar phrases in an attempt to sound car savvy. He might as well said that it has a Posi and a turbo hydramatic 727. Second, there is no way to bore an engine 5 thousandths of an inch to achieve 505 cubic inches. A .030 overbored 440 block with a 4.25 crank gets 505 inches. Finally, to reach a restoration $ total of $110,000, you'd have to be a man that would rather write checks than to turn a wrench. You could take a burned out, rusted parts car and restore it to the level of this car and still do it cheaper.
The car looks really nice in the pictures. Maybe the seller is a guy that got caught up in the Muscle car frenzy a few years back and he realized that old cars are not for everyone.

I suspect there is a hefty dose of ebay exaggeration in there.

Off the cuf:
Missing the sail panel charger emblems
Brown gages - as you mention
Wrong color!!!  Why in gods name would you paint over Silver?!!  :scratchchin: :brickwall:
It might just be the photos combined with the black car but it looks like the rear valance corners are smooth...
Looks like they removed the heater controls
has aftermarket AC.
No fender tag?
No jack or spare.

No bids as of yet should say something about that, though ebay does like to start low.

The guy he bought it from spent $110k & he spent another $25k since he's owned it so the car has $135k sunk into it...and the gauges were never touched.   :rotz:

I read the description first & thought wow, I'm anxious to see the engine bay.  What a let down that was.  Wonder why there's 100 wires going to the + side of the battery.

He might have gotten closer to his BIN if they would have painted it the original color.

:Twocents:  +/- $5k-$8k Jim's guess.

I'm ok with the emblems removed, but he should go all the way and shave the handles, remove the moldings, and run with black wheels.

Or else put the emblems back on.  :Twocents:

My thoughts are... if your not looking for a rare nice optioned car like the Silver RT  :coolgleamA: was originally, silver being an added cost original option, very cool... until  :rotz: cannibalized. If original FLA car, be carefull.  I agree with Tan top, that Y2 looks like a nice car in photos, I DO LIKE the white accents, although maint monster, if the power  :nana: is not needed leave the motor as it, although I would have to chase more motor.  Good luck with your search.

So you are aware, that car has been listed on craigslist for the past 2 months at $17k.  I talked with the owner on that car. It's originally a 383 4spd 2bbl car. He has owned it for about 6 months. It's got a quick respray with some "minor" fiberglass repair in the rear. In the big pic in that ad it actually looks wavy in the lower quarter. The original 383 is was blown in 70 and replaced with a 440. The 440 in there is apparently the 3rd one  :shruggy:

I'm not suggesting that the car is hopeless by any stretch of the imagination. But if you are looking for a turnkey driver in decent shape you might not be happy with that car.

He apparently has the broadcast sheet and original dealer window sticker. Mostly my point was to let him know of the length of time it has been listed and the lower price of that listing.  :2thumbs:

Oh. Well, I think this black one is decent but pretty pricey in this market. I'd say it's probably worth $20k depending on the condition of the body/paint. I don't think it's worth $30k at all though, let alone $50k. And yes, I agree they should have left it silver. Black is what you cover green with. ;)

tatrick2me

Over the past five years of playing with my 73. Which I wreck in 75 [and never repaired]. Including a front clip, K frame, 318/391 stroker, and all the goodies that go from it to the rear wheels. Hand making new seat covers, changing color from gold to purple, tires wheels bla, bla, bla. I only have have 11 grand in it including the 4100$ purchase price in 73. No way is more than 12 grand tied up inh that car.

This car is worth no more than $25K on a "good day", and that's with the bid placed by a blind man :scratchchin:.......If I had $100K in a car, it sure as hell would have a stroked HEMI under the hood, OD transmission, and DANA 60, on top of a high end resto.......sad :Twocents:
