Where does this thing go. I thought maybe by ignition switch. There is a hole in the vinyl above the switch, but it seems a little small. And if I forced it through it would interfere with the key. Is there some kind of bracket that holds it, where does it mount. Also I tried to pull the guts out of the housing and no go. Was thinking of checking the bulb. I'm pretty sure it should pull out but don't want to break it. Thanks

that's odd , never seen one like that ,  what year is your charger ,  the bullit shaped light / housing & the ones I posted in the thread above , are for a second generation  ,  although  never seen early 68s with the slide down astray  light , only the tilt out .

It's a 68 and has a slide down ashtray. I don't know how to tell if it's early or not. From reading on here it's probably on the plate near the engine.

Thanks for the help tan top. Here's a couple of pics. I'm the second owner of this car and am pretty sure it is original.

Do you have a column shifter? That kinda looks like the bulb socket without the blue cover for a column shift gear lense.

Fred, since you have the same ashtray light as me do you also have the same set up that tan top shows in his third picture for the ignition light? Do you know what the square piece of metal with the hole in it is used for? I can't see it holding that bullet light. I can see it as going on before you plug the ignition switch into the dash pad. Or what holds the bullet light?  thanks.

The bullet light and the plate do not match.  The bullet light is the later version ash tray lamp, you don't need it as you have the same style as Fred's.  The ignition lamp is hooked onto that square bracket which attaches to the ignition switch.  If anyone has a spare, drop me a PM, I ruined mine.   :icon_smile_big:

This is what I want to see, how it is hooked up.

the tiny metal lug is to locate the ignition switch lamp  in the correct location  in the dash frame / location to switch & hole in lower dash pad  & keep it there , when the ignition switch  bezel/nut is tightened !

Yes I do have the same set up as tan top shows, el dub. That "square piece of metal with the hole in it" holds the ignition switch in place.

OK, let me be more clear. What holds the light?
