Hello All,

My project is in it's final phase, FINALLY!, just need to get the motor choice squared away and need some advice from my fellow Charger Brotherhood.
I'm trying to decide if I should order one of the following:
1.) the INDY 572 Hemi
2.) Ray Barton 528 Hemi

Both will put out about 700 HP/Torque

Does anyone have any experience with either one of these motors... anyone give some advice on which one is better than the other?

Trying to complete my '70 Charger once and for all and it's down to this last large ticket item, then final assembly can be done!!

Thanks in advance,
Eddie

No personal experience here, but, I've heard only good things about Ray Barton and his products.  I can't say the same for INDY.   Bob

Hey, thanks guys for the quick replies.... I don't have much experience with Indy and the Ray Barton stuff always seems to have good feedback.  I guess I'll give David a call today to get the details on this products.  Thanks again!

This has been a long, long, long... on going project of mine and it's nice to start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!  Can't wait to get this ride on the road!

Thanks again and if anyone out there has any experience with either Indy or the Barton engines, please feel free to get in touch with me as I want to get as much information from others out there that might have some personal experience with these two engines brands.

Where the best place to put some pictures?  I've been away from this forum for some time, but now i'm picking at this Charger Project of mine...  This project started back in 2002 when I found the car out in the desert just north of Las Vegas and it's come along way but you know how life is... kids, new house, blah, blah, blah... time to finish this car!  Nothing like a Bright Yellow Musclecar!

GOOD FOR YOU getting back on the project ! :2thumbs:

I've had EVERYBODIES stuff apart at one time or another,
That said,
Ray Bartons stuff is fine,
Tim @ FHO is good also (FHO is "For Hemis Only").

IMO,
Really, these days, depending upon "Where" you are geographically, it's pretty much "childsplay", for any number of Shops to build 700hp/trq Street HEMI ?

No offense intended, but that just isn't cutting edge stuff power-wise, nor is making them reliably at that level.

Mopar Engines West, etc., etc., ALL more than capable.

Bo matter where you go, just make sure It's Dyno'd to YOUR satisfaction, prior to delivery.

A friend of mine has a Barton built hemi in his 1970 cuda ( real R code car btw) , he's happy with it. but when asked Barton he never would devulge the cam specs he just said it's custom grind

The cuda I have in the shop has a Banning built motor and although I haven't heard it run yet( soon though, very soon ) I have seen inside it and talked to Tom at FHO personally, and he has been a huge help with questions I've had along the way

Hey, thanks to all that have given their 2 cents on this original question of mine.  I've waited way to long to get to this point and now that it's time to get that motor I've always wanted, I just thought I'd ask around to see what kind of experiences others might have had with the Hemi motors out there for sale.  This is the last big ticket item that my project has been waiting to get checked off the list... won't be long then it's time for final assembly and start shaking out the bugs.  Long 9 year project but I've had fun along the way!!!  Love these B-body cars!!!  Mopar or No Car, right guys!

Thanks again,
Eddie

So an elephant will soon be ordered but wanted to hear from you Charger Pros out there, would you go with a single or duo carb. set up?  What are the pros and cons... just want to get all my notes together so I can finally get this gem of a motor that my car has been waiting to receive all these years of it's project life!  :2thumbs:

thanks in advance,

For the Steet and ease of tuning I like the Big Single, but it doesn't have the same "eye candy" for many.
No matter, IMO
HEMI's have enough eye candy anyways :2thumbs:

HAVE A RAY BARTON 528 (MOPAR CRATE) IN MY 69 CHARGER. bEEN TURN KEY 2 YEARS NOW. OTHER THAN NOT BEING ABLE TO USE BARTONS SINGLE PLAIN HIGH RISE (GIVES UP 70 HP ACCORDING TO RAY ) IT BEEN GREAT. 4 SMALL OIL LEAKS ON OIL PAN BOLTS. BIGGEST PAIN IN ASS WAS CHROME MOPAR WATER NECK. TAKE THAT THING AND THROUGH RIGHT IN THE GARBAGE. GO BUY A BILLET ONE. BLEW 3 GASKITS OUT FIRST 3 MONTHS. EVEN FACED IT ON A PIECE OF GLASS (WAS CAST OUT OF WACK) AND STILL COULDNT KEEP GASKITS IN IT.
GOING STAGE 5 INTAKE THIS YEAR, DUAL CARBS AND A SOLID ROLLER CAM FROM TIM AT F.H.O SHOUKLD PUT IT IN 750 HP RANGE NOW
GOOD LUCK EITHER VENDOR CANT GO WRONG. TIM AT FHO REALLY LIKES THE BUILDING THE 540 OVER THE 528 OR 572.  DONT KNOW ALL DETAILS UT HAS TO DO WITH THE STROKE AND WEIGHT OF PISON ETC. REVS BETTER HE SAYS.
JUST MY 2 CENTS WORTH.
