Anyone have pics of a blacked out hood on a 2nd gen?

After I pulled the tunnel ram out of the '68 I am left with a nice hole in the hood. I bought another hood but, I do not want to repaint the entire car yet. What would really be nice is to see some pics of a red '68 or '69 with a blacked out hood. I think it will look fine until I paint the whole car. I suppose I could try a hood scoop of some sort over the hood with the hole too.  :scratchchin:

Any opinions?

Do they just pop rivet on or what?  The hood with the hole is in primer so I would still just black it out like a '69 1/2 Bee then. I think the hole is maybe 10" wide so it would probably work.

I had the exact same situation years ago, a hood where a scoop was removed. I got a junkyard hood that was green of course, & painted it black. I never liked it that way & always thought 2nd gen Chargers looked better all with one color. Sorry, no pics.

For a car that is run on the strip and also drove on the street I don't think a blacked out hood is all too bad. But for me personally I'd always stick with painting the hood the color of the rest of the car.

Or at least it was until last week, when he took his ball & went home...now it's dot, or spot, or...ummm...oh, I remember, it's *  ;D

Anyway...

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Thanks for all the pics guys. I have a JC Whitney catalog that lists fiberglass Mopar Six pack scoops for about $90. I am sure Summit sell them too. The other hood I bought is green and needs to be completely stripped so I will probably just go with the scoop idea.

This is really just a quick fix so I can get the car on the road again until I do paint the whole car. I should be able to pop rivet it on, slap on a little duraglass and rage filler, and shoot it in the shop.

CudaKen's is red with a black hood too.  I'll scrounge to see if there's a picture somewhere around here

Lets not forget about the nice blue hood you have on your Daytona Gene. Its not black, but it is different colored than the car.  :icon_smile_big:

You gotta keep mentioning that, dontcha???   :P

Its just because I"m jealous. I'd be happy with a Daytona of any mix and match colors, especially if it was a 4 speed car.
