Thinking of rebuilding my 833. Is this something best left to the experts, or can a hobbiest get the job done. Thanks

There are some special tools needed. But it maybe cheaper to buy them & do the work your self. Then you could make some money doing it for others.

Sounds good so far, but where do I find out the information needed to do this process. What tools are needed also. My transmission has sat for about 10 years also, so I assume I will need to buy a full rebuild kit. Basicly it stands at this, if I get enough information to satisfy my understanding I will do this job. I am thinking I am going to get half way into this & no one will be able to answer my questions. It has happened to me before & it's twice as hard to get someone to do a half apart transmission. What do I need guys . SET ME UP I'M GOIN IN!

The best information to do it comes right out of the factory service manual.

 :iagree:
you need a dummy shaft to install the lower countershaft without having all the rollers fall out , but virtually anything the correct diameter will do from a wood dowel to a piece of heater hose , you also need 2 snap ring pliers

I used to just use a heavy grease to hold them in.  It still took a little patience but it worked.

What special tools are required? From where can they be purchased?

If you can find a March 2004 issue of Mopar Muscle, there is an excellent article with step by step directions from Jamie Passon of Passon Performance. Be careful when buying parts for your transmission as there are several differences between the various styles of A-833s. Passon Performance was very helpful in helping me to get the right parts to upgrade my transmission.

snap ring pliers are not hard to get , you will need a dowel or you can order the dummy shaft from Mopar if you are stupid like me
