They ended up stopping at the same gas station I did. They were on their way to Willow Springs race track to let the magazine and media people check it out. Just after the charger left a black 392 challenger pulled in going to the same place. I talked to the guys in the challenger and asked if they would let the public come watch the charger on the track. He said not today but Friday they are going to do some Ariel shots of the charger drifting and tearing around the track.

You sure get around.  :2thumbs: Good thing it's all black so they'll not get ripped a new one over that horrific looking black bumper blackout.  :eek2: PS: I think that hood is new.  :shruggy:

Not all the SRT's will be blacked out.  It's an option to have body colored bumpers.

Bad ass lookin' ride.   :2thumbs:

L-88?..  :scratchchin: i thought that too,.. i think the REDLINE concept had that hood but it wasn't on the initial Autoshow car... The overall sedan proportions just don't work well.. it reminds me too of a bloated WRX which was never a looker either...
You take away the overhangs, the Sharksmouth Grill, the Hidden headlights, the Two Door Hardtop with the "fast Roof line... Blunt the front end, put a full load in the diaper in the back... and we go from teen model to post menopausal human resources director.  :eek2:

Notice how the grill is much smaller now, which is very similar to some photoshops members had me do when the first photos came out. Personally I think the SRT8 looks great! Much better than the stock 2012s.

I definitely like this one much better than some other versions I have seen. I am curious so see what the final version looks like when it hits the dealers.

That was my first thought as soon as I saw it.
Stylistically, the only way to describe this car is "confused".
It's like they made one of those mug shot flip books for cars and randomly combined stying cues.

Idiots! That's an Audi. :rotz:

Thanks for posting the pics. I think its the nicest looking modern Charger yet. I wish they would do something different with the center grill - that still needs work.

Just when I thought adding some retro 69 styling cues meant they were finally starting to get they turn around and give it a Chevy hood tratment and an Audi grille.  Might as well throw some F150 taillights on there and maybe a horn off one of those Shriner cars.

well this one looks better than the original one they came out with. I like the door lines, and hood lines, and the rear lights. I mean of course they could do a ton better. I just dont like it. If it was called the Dodge whatever i'd be fine with it. But since its called  a Charger I wanna hang myself. haha.

needs a charger grille....

The whole front end needs reworked badly for it to even look like a charger.

TexasStroker

Awesome find!  It should be paddle shifted as well!

I'm still not big on putting the label on a 4 door, but as I say every time, they are a very solid car if you can get past that first hold up...the tweaks they made to the 2011 were very impressive on the HHT car.  I actually don't mind the grille, or hood...although, I am from the Black Grille Society  :2thumbs:

70ChargerX2

My dad was a model maker for the Higland Park plant in Michigan and I have pictures of him working on the 71 Charger bumper. He also had his hands in the 68 so of course I fell in love with that one when it hit the streets and the 69 and 70 were just as near and dear to my heart with the70 being my favorite. I was fortunate enough to have owned (not all at one time) 3 68's a 69 2 70's and a 72. The last one I had was a 70 that when I went brain dead and traded it on a 84 Daytona Turbo would fetch me about $40.000 in today's market and that means nothing to me really I just wish I still had it. I have never regretted anything more in my life than selling that car. It had been stored for 6 years and had 36.000 miles on it. I paid $1.500 for it put a front trans seal in it and drove it home.

I am also VERY fortunate to be able to say that my first car as a kid that I bought at 18 with my own money was 68. she was a little banged up but had VERY little rust in it (a Denver car) and hosted a 383 backed up by a 727 automatic with the center console. I paid $300 for this car!

The reason I tell you all this is because this poor excuse of a car that will be out in 2012 carrying a once proud name has completely destroyed any hope that the Charger will be anything but a 4 door box with a few glimpses of original Charger body lines. Notice I did not say body style? That is because it has none to mention as long as it continues to have that stupid Ram grill on it. The Challenger is the only Chrysler product I have even given a second look at after the Daytona which was a sharp car with great lines and a very nice interior but it was a mechanical pile of crap. I have said it many times as far as I am concerned Chrysler went out of business in 1974. the last year for the Charger I might add because if anyone thought that Cordoba with the Charger tag stuck on it that came out in 75 was anything close to a Charger then it truly was dead at 74. Hell Richard Petty couldn't even make that car look good in the adds for it. Let us not forget all the Championships he won running a Charger.

I am sill and always will be a die hard 68 thru 70 Charger guy and there is nothing on the road now or ever will be that will EVER takes it's place. I thought they were going in the right direction with the 2011 and then this hideous creature appears on the streets. :eek2: I'm sure the cops will like them because they haul ass but I loved my 318 in my second 68 just fine thank you very much. My love for these cars is the body style and the interiors and just the complete over all looks of them. The size of the motor meant nothing to me. I would have been happy with a flippin' V- 6 as long as it was in one of those 3 years

This gentlemen is why I have a 2004 40th anniversary Mustang and my wife has a 2010 F-150. The Pony is not a replacement for a "real" Charger but it is a damn nice alternative until these so called designers can get their heads out there butts and get back to designing something that looks like a Mopar because right now they are just a car.
Sorry for the rant but these things just aint gonna cut it as a Charger.

As soon as they are out with the 8-speed transmission, I'm buying one.  Silver with a red interior.  It'll look great in the garage sitting next to my '70 R/T.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

Finn

I'm waiting for the performance reports of the 8-speed...and the money...and the room in the driveway. But mostly I want to see how it does first haha. If it's got the numbers, count me in.

Now there's a "Charger" that I wouldn't mind if the dukes fans painted orange and drove it off a jump to its quick demise for entertainment purposes.

Oh, they look soooo good next to vintage Chargers. You can really see how they are alike, with the tail lights and the beltline, its just breath taking!
