Appears to be a '57 Savoy.

Looks like it, but did the Savoy also come in a 2 door (no post) hardtop? :shruggy:

jaak

It looks to be a 57, and I think Savoy's were all post (no hardtops) but I could be wrong.

That's what I thought... :scratchchin:

I'll go with a 58 Belvedere Sport Coupe. The 57 had a sharper angle on the fin, the 58 was flatter.  :popcrn:

Great car, did you buy it?

No, but I wish I did.

A friend of mine just rescued it from points unknown,

and he's trying to figure out EXACTLY what it is/was  :shruggy:

Lots of info here:  http://www.plymouthcentral.com

They have dozens of pics of 57 and 58. It might be a Savoy, there was a hardtop 2 door shown. I don't know now after a quick look at the site.

There was great info on VINs for both years.

Let us know when he figures it out.

Plaza was the lower line with no hardtop...I think. Although the Dodge lower line Coronet, did have a hardtop. I have a '59 Coronet two-door sedan.

The uneven headlight rings makes it a '57 and the single longitudinal trim strip makes it a Savoy.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Yes, 1957 Savoy Sport Coupe. No, the sheetmetal was not different in 1957 and 1958 on the fin...

The '57 could easily be transformed into a 1958 by simply swapping the front fenders (Dual headlights in 1958) and taillights, along with other bits and pieces...

Yes, the 1957 Savoy came in Hd Top form...Depending on how rough the rest of the car is, I'd tell your friend he better know what he's getting into on this one...NOT for the faint of heart. These car parts are EXPENSIVE when you can find them...The headliner in that thing is cardboard and Sells repop for over $1000.00...USED ones gor for $500.00 and up with the center strips. There are VERY few parts being repopped. unlike the Charger and E-body Mopars.

Seeing that car sitting there like that kind of reminds me of the scene where Arnie first found Christine. Now, wouldn't it be great if THAT car could fix itself and chase down anyone who vandalizes it? :icon_smile_big:
