i would like to see how they make the crankshaft and machine it.  we always see the finished (or semi-finished) product, but never get to see how they make the crank, rods and pistons of such a huge motor.  that in itself would be cool to see IMO.

I used to have a picture of them assembling that engine, but cant find it now. they were using a crane to lower a main bearing into the block. it had rebar steps cast into theside of the block. pretty cool if you ask me.

Makes you wonder if they use plastigauge? that stuff would have to be damn big, like your forearm for that. haha

Easy job, they used hydraulics to extend main bolts and than tight nut with the hand.

 I saw a show where they were building an engine like that. When they fire it up they send  compressed air into a cylinder to start the engine turning over.

Yeap, it si the only way to move that big mass.
BTW you can count each firing stroke of that engine due to low speed.
