I just bought this 1969 Barracuda Fastback.  I am going to go get it next weekend.  I hope it looks as good as the pictures.

I have a very nice 1969 383 4 bbl to put in it.  It should be a fun little run around car.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I see.

The 383 was a bad idea then......

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

I like yours Ghost.  That is what started getting me thinking of them.  I have had a 383 from a 1969 charger just sitting here and decided I needed something to put it in.
What better than a F8 green fastback barracuda.

Post up some pictures of yours Ghost.

Rolling Thunder, You don't like the 383 or the F8???

Damn, whats next..........

ChargerHound69

The car looks good Ghost.

What color do you think you are going to paint it??

TheGhost

She's getting a fresh repaint of the original YY1 Light Tan Poly.  I can't find many other cars in that color, and I like to stand out, so I'm sticking with it ;D

bull

Yea, '68 or '69 Barracuda is one of my favs. But I can't decide if I like the fastback better or not.

ChargerHound69

I am going to get the 383 ready to go.  I hope to get it in the car and running before Febuary, but we will see.

Rolling_Thunder

i dont like the F8...     friend of mine has a plum crazy fastback barracuda and i love that car...   but he doesnt want to put any money into it...    doesnt drive it because he says it is too slow....      but he doesnt want to sell it either....     so...     i told him gimme some $$$ and i'll build him an 8 3/4 with some 3.55's - he'll love it but no....

I think that the 69s had the best taillight setup out of them all, and the 67-68s had the best nose.  68s had the best grill, hood, and side markers.  Color don't matter, since that can be changed relatively easily.  I prefer fastbacks, myself, but, I love all the 2nd gens.  In fact the only car I'd sell a 2nd gen for would be a 71 Superbee, or 71-2 Plymouth RR/SSP/GTX.

That is a good looking car.  It is a shame he just lets it sit.

Rolling_Thunder

ya - its got plenty of issues though....    he lets it sit because its too slow - yet he wont put $$$ into it to make it better...    it has 2.71 gears or some shit and a pansy old 340 in it with no compression or power...    oh well...      one day

I'd go green before purple, my  :Twocents:

Anyhoo....... cool project, My wife's Great Grandmother passed away this past fall, and I got a chance to meet some of her family I never met before, Her Grandparents live a couple hours away, After the funeral, We went to my wife's great uncles house, and setting under his carport was a 68 notchback B'cuda nothing special just a 6 cyl/ 3speed, well any ways I got to talking to him about it he bought it new in 68, he put about 90k miles on it and parked it in 77 when tranny give him trouble, when his kids were old enough to drive he fixed the tranny, but they was too ashamed to drive it to school  That was in mid 80's, so he just left it under the carport, where it still sits with the 77 tag still on it. the body is solid as a rock, heck factory paint is still pretty good, faded, but there, the interior is complete, but of course driver seat is sorta ragged. It's light green metallic with white interior, with steel wheels and dogdish caps :drool5: Man I have been WANTING this car since I laid eyes on it, but he just don't want to part with it, he says he give it to his son to fix up, but his son just isn't a car guy, and he'll never come get it, Other members of her family tell me there is pretty much no chance of getting it. :bawling:

later,
Jason

Makes you just want to go get it.

I just found a 71 challenger convertable today and the lady said there is not a chance in hell that the car will be for sale.  I turned and looked at it again(under the boxes and misc. garbage in the garage) then just walked away laughing to myself.

Not a chance in Hell they will ever do anything with it is what she should have said.

All I got to see was it was red, with a faded black top.  To much garbage to get around to the front.

Rolling_Thunder

Yep - ive had my eye on this one for almost 7 years now

It almost looks like one I saw in Delano, CA.   Have you had any contact with the owner??

Rolling_Thunder

yep...    some 400+lb guy who is gonna fix it up one day....    car would need ALOT of work....    hood has major surface rust, would need lower 1/4's, rockers, inner wheel wells, and lower fender patch panels...   the frame (what i can see) is solid though....

Is it a 318 car??  What color interior??

That car is going to sit there untill someday, someone will come along and get it for 500 bucks.

However, you will show up the next day :o  GONE!

Rolling_Thunder

which pisses me off...  i offered the guy cash for it...  $1500 and he said no - he's gonna fix it up some day....      im thinking of calling the city (i know a cop) and saying it is a public distraction  (weird law says you cant have a car in public view that cannot physically start and move under its own power or something to that effect) and offering the get $1000 cash for it....              it is a 383 car hense the non R/T...    auto with a chopped center console....     black interior....

That law is a good one.  I have had many people turn me in for that one.  All you do is move the car.  Does he have a carport or a backyard where he could park it??

How many times have you offered him cash??

I would keep going with that.  If you turn him in and they tow it away or something like that and a tow yard gets it, you can kiss that car good bye.

Rolling_Thunder

nope - no car port or back yard to put it in....    :icon_smile_big:     The car is almost up to the frame in mud...   he aint moving that...  and he said it hasnt run in like years so...     if i reported him i think he would be SOL.   and if the car gets towed it will go to a police inpound yard   (again, having a friend who is a cop isnt a bad thing)  where if the dues arent paid after 30 days it is auctioned off...   but if the 30 days expire usually a cop 'can' snatch it up before it goes to auction.

If the tow yard guy doesn't already have 35 guys beating down his door to get the car.  I for one know that I would be there.

I would just continue to go by his house and ask if he is willing to sell it yet.

Rolling_Thunder

well cops get  first dibs on cars i believe....   unwritten law i guess...   i'll see what my LAPD friend says
