how many "safety switches" on a 69 charger?

I'm getting really frustrated with my wiring. Was wondering what all is on a 69 charger that would prevent the engine from turning over. I had the neutral safety switch bypassed and the engine was turning over with the key, but no power to the coil in the "run" position. However I didnt have the dash instrument cluster hooked up at the time. I hooked up the Ammeter and then I finally had good power to the coil in both run and start.  But now the engine wont even turn over. So it seems I opened up new issues.  First of all what would the ammeter have to do with the the engine not turning over now? What are all the safety switches that I should be looking for? Or could it be someting else?

Go back over your connections. The yellow wire on the starter safety solenoid activates crank. The terminal for "safety" can just be grounded, it's brown I believe. (Mine's a 70 they may be different colors.) Check your grounds and connections at the battery and starter!  :2thumbs:

Also be sure to check your ignition switch, my red wire came out, and NO turn over! When I got my car, the ammeter was wired together, so that may explain why it didn't work, someone took a shortcut. I have a new one now, and have yet to hook it up.
Another thing to check, is the ground on the starter relay, I had a bad ground, and it wouldn't turn over either.
Hope this helps.
Jason.

Finally got it! The neutral safety switch post on the starter relay wasn't grounded. Its still strange how this wiring stuff works because I had to undo something I did before. Without the dash hooked up I had a positive on the Neutral safety switch post to fool the system and the motor turned over just fine. At the time I tried grounding it but that didnt work. Now that the ammeter was hooked up it seemed to flip. Anyway, after I grounded that post the engine cranked and I had spark!  Thanks for all your help and pointing out what to look into.
