Sooooooo many caveats in that list that it took a whole article to (partially) explain them. There are certainly cars that are much more American (higher percentage) but their low sales numbers keep them off the list. I'm sure the Corvette fits that category.

It's interesting to note that parts made in Canada are considered "domestic" which makes it tough to truly define "American Made". "North American Made" I guess...

Also, I've been saying forever that having cars built here is more important than where the company is based and that article gave me a bit more information to support that (ie. since car companies are publicly owned the profits go to wherever the shareholders live - not necessarily the home country of the company). The money spent on labor and logistics stays here which the propagates throughout the local economy.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I have the same opinion. My Honda, as ridiculed as it is by good old beer drinkin 'Mericans, was built in the USA. My Ram was built in Mexico.

However, you have to look at it more broadly: If you factor in all the food that has been put on the table of Chrysler service technicians, my Ram probably did way more to support US jobs than the Honda.

Ran across that trying to find out where my '08 Mustang was manufactured.

Understood there are numerous variables...

That new diesel RAM was cool but DAMN it made enough trips to the dealers service bay.
