What's a good way to insure a good ground connection through a trailer hitch?

I spent most of the afternoon working on issues with my car trailer's wiring.  I got everything cleaned up but still had a few issues until I put a jumper cable between the bumper of the truck and the frame of the trailer.  Once the jumper was there everything worked great.  Is there some kind of conductive lubricant that I can put on the ball and receiver to eliminate this problem?  Thanks in advance, Bob

the white wire on the 4-pin trailer connectors are for the ground...you will not get a good ground connection by using the ball as a ground

white wire goes to car body on car side, white wire goes to trailer frame

The trailer has electric brakes and uses the round 6 pin plug but only uses 5 wires.  The truck has the matching outlet that came as part of the towing package from Ma Mopar. The black appears to be the ground and goes directly to the brakes along with the red without jumping to the trailer frame at any point.  I googled it yesterday and found that some utility type trailers use the hitch for grounding.  Maybe I'll just make my own jumper and call it good.  Thanks, Bob

If theres one post not being used, and enough wire hanging off of it to splice onto. Maybe that could be used as ground.

Good idea!  I'll see if I can get to it.  Thanks, Bob
