Im about to put the heater hoses back on my 69 charger with a 383 big block and 4 bbl carb.  Which number heater hose goes to which nipple on the heater core and which goes to which nipple on the engine.

Thanks,

Brian. I'm pretty sure the hoses will cross when you don't have a/c.

resq302

I know they cross but my main question is what number goes where. :shruggy:

I answered your question on the other site - picture and everthing!  But I'll do it again for the benefit of others.

Hemi pic - but same for all big blocks in 69. The criss-cross can occur on either side of the inner fender bracket. Note the 2 different hose numbers and their correct relation to each nipple.

resq302

Ok, thanks.  Because the upper rad hose is blocking it, I would assume that the inner more hose would go the nipple closest to the distributor and the outer most hose would go towards the nipple closest to the rad?

Brian, fairly sure this would be the same for a non A/C car as well.....except for the heater valve on the firewall....just take the loop out of the equation...

This pic shows a little more...

As long as you start the 1527 on the firewall closest to the passenger side and fight the common urge to keep the hoses parallel all the way to the pump fittings (     ) you should be fine....as long as you criss-cross them along the way!   :2thumbs:

resq302

Cool, while everyone was replying, I was downstairs in the garage swapping them around.

Maxwell, I did them just like the green hemi with the criss cros right by the washer bottle.

Chris, from what the diagram shows, they run parallel but I have heard that they were supposed to be criss crossed by multiple people who have seen it on unrestored cars.  Maybe that is just another one of the mixed up diagrams that is in the FSM. :shruggy:

On a side note, were small blocks in 1970 the same way with the criss cross?

They started the 2 different hose sizes in 70....... No way to goof that one up.   ;)

Not sure Brian, maybe it IS a non-A/C thing.  Several unrestored A/C cars I have seen have the hoses pretty much parallel like the  FSM shows....I used a lot of refrence pics from the Hoffmans Winners Circle '69 Coronet R/T as well...

Attached is a photo of my heater lines.  The hoses had been changed, one at a time, in the past.  I am the original owner of the '68 Charger.  This is how they were originally routed.

Cool. Actually the non-AC diagram in the 69 FSM shows them crossed as well.

1969 B-body with factory air. I routed them exactly the way the service manual shows

Funny you mention that Chris, I was going through my box of invoices yesterday and came upon stuff from Bill way back to 2002!   Amazing what you find when you clean stuff out!

Earliest invoice I have for chris is 2003 , for a set of wheel lip mldg screws and 2 washer reservor screws

earliest for you Brian is 2005 , and it was for a whole lot more than a bunch of screws, thank you both btw

Wow, sure doesn't feel like i've been having this much fun for that long.
