OK my 07' 300 is getting a vibration in the steering i know of 2 fixes, where do i start? tire balance or alignment? it aint that old so i dont it has anything to do with the pitman arm or other connections. the tire pressure is good, and the tires are wearing even (as of now) i can only afford one fix so which one is most probible as of right now. its been going on for about 2 weeks

At certain speeds or constantly? Hit any big potholes lately that could have caused a bent rim?

Tire balancing is pretty darn cheap.

Obviously, the nut that holds the wheel is screwed up.

Ha
Does it vibrate only when you're coming to a stop?  Then that would be your brake rotors are warped and you can go to any shop even a Pep boys and get them cut.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Move the front tires to the back.  If the vibration moves to your seat, it's tires.

I once had a torque converter go bad and gave a vibration.

Just 6T9 CHGR

I have also read that outer tie rods fail pretty often....fairly common problem with 300's with 20k+ miles on them

You never really told us the circumstances under which this happens (ie., while braking etc.) but here's a possible fix I only recently learned about. Sometimes when you get your tires rotated the flunkies employed at the tire shop don't understand the concept of tightening things down evenly. And free-floating brake rotors (assuming that's what '07 300s have) can get off-kilter if the guy with the 3/8 impact runs the first lug nit all the way down, then the second one all the way down, etc. So if you had one or all of your wheels removed and put back on in the last two weeks you might want to losen them back up and re-snug them in the star pattern.

sorry for the late response its been a busy weekend the car vibrates at cruising speed. it stops on braking and stops on acceleration. tie rods could be possible it has almost 90 tho on it. thanks bull your assumption could hit the spot but they havnt been off since i rotated them 3 months ago and i done it myself i appreciate everyones thoughts even yours richy i will try to move the tires again  and see if it helps...

I always go by the rule that if you feel it in the wheel, it's front tires or front something.... if you feel it in your ass, you bent too far over for the soap...

really, if you feel it on your body, then its probably driveline or rear tires.

 FWIW:
if it's a slow droan at freeway speed it very well maybe the driveshaft, Or, it could be flat spotted tires that was my last vibration source.

jar1292

thanks Brock i don't think its flat spots! ive never locked up the brakes and with the 90 tho miles it could be u joints im gunna have to do some more trouble shooting after the Holiday thanks for the suggestions

I had a situation in my charger up till last year.   Noticed a vibration over the years getting a bit worse... not too much use on the car.  I thought it was a tires at one point, but I was about to get new rims anyway so I didnt do anything with it.  after the new wheels, same thing.   the shaft had come out of balance...don't know how, no marks on it.  when I got it back from the drive shaft place, it had a nice new weight on it..
