It's hard to tell what "actually happened", but you can't take anything that snopes has to say as 100% factual evidence. Their sources leave a hell of a lot to be desired.   Myself I doubt it actually happened quite like was mentioned, but I also doubt that the media played the whole story the way it really happened due to not wanting to start anything causing Americans to start beating the hell out of muslims... Sort of like what happened with the japs here after Pearl Harbor.  I think that most time the story that is published is dependant on who is the most convincing liar.

I believe that all of the airplane terrorist subjects have been of Arab decent or with Muslim ties. It's a sad day when the TSA targets a 95 year old white woman in a wheelchair on her way to a nursing home accompanied by her daughter as a terrorist suspect rather than profile the root of the problem; Arabs & Muslims
