Salvage title becomes clear?

Hello everyone.  I am looking into purchasing a 69 Charger and the owner has stated the title was at some point a salvage title, but is now clear.  Is this something to be worried about? Does this happen often? Would this detract from the price of the car (maybe it will help me negotiate)?  Any thoughts would be helpful.  Thanks.

i have heard of this but never witnessed it.a branded tittle is a branded tittle,at least as far as im concerned-with an older restoration/project car,i wouldnt worry about it to much.its when you get a year or 2 old car thats when i get nervous.

Thats good to hear Andy.  I am new to this forum and can take any opinions I can get! I have always been more of a car guy, not a title/paper guy.   ;)

Are you talking about that car in the Monterrey area?  The one that had the "Slight Fire"?  That one STILL has a salvage title, and he can't even get it in his name.

The only time I have seen it happen with a true clear title reissued is by accident. For instance, when a car title is transfered from one state to another "sometimes" the title branding is missed and a clear title gets issued in the new state.

Much more often you will just have a "prior" salvage vehicle that has been repaired, inspected, and approved for registration.

I bought a car with a salvage title from Alabama, I was told this was common in southern states.  When I registered it in Illinois I got a regular Illinois title back.

Not the Montreal one, but this one says it already has the new clear title.  At least the guy gave up the history info to me....

Good to know since I live in Illinois also! Thx!

I am from Granite City down by StLouis.  Do you ever come down for Monster Mopar?  My son just took a job in Aurora, he starts Wednesday.

69fourspd,if you have any paper work issues,id check before buying the car-some states wont even let you register a car with a branded tittle with out a lengthy inspection, and it always costs $$ like i said,if everything is done correctly,i wouldnt let it bother me too much
