Where to find tires???

Hey I was wondering where I can find some good meats for my 1971. I'm looking to get 255/60/14 for the fronts and 275/60/14 for the rears but im having problems finding them. Anyone know where I can find them I'm in sacramento CA.             yes kommiefornia

Mods might move this thread to "Chassis, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels, & Tires" . But those 14" sizes are going to be hard to find. Tire rack doesnt even list them. If Tire Rack dont have them they probably are not available.

I think the only reliable source for 14 inchers is Coker Tire. http://www.cokertire.com/

But then again they may only have 78 and 70 series. 60-14 series went away with the Flintstones.

IMO, Summit and Jegs will be your best source, but like others said, wide 14" rubber is getting hard to find, and when you do find it, expensive. Summit list an N50(345)x14 MT for $227 and change. A 245/60x14 BFG TA is listed for $110, but that isn't really a very wide tire for the rear of a '71.

I don't think that size is readily available in the US, but that tire is what, 23 inches tall? That thing would look lost in the wheel tub of a 3rd gen Charger. 275/60x14 radial is also going to be a hard animal to source. Summit has a 275/55 race tire and a 295/60 bias ply in 14" rim sizes.

Best bet is to step up to a 15" rim. Whiles choices there are also being reduced, you do have better odds of find 15" street radials than you do 14" street radials.

Hmm, I've seen them go for $100-600 a set depending on appearance. Hard to predict. As you've found, tire selection is a big impediment to using them, so unless someone really wants them for an era correct look, there isn't a lot of demand for them. Slot mags are available new in 15 adn 17 inch sizes, so there are still some guys out there who want the look.

If you haven't searched Coker Tire for sizes, definetly do so. Also look in to Diamond Back Tires as well. Both of these guys specialized in older style, discontinued by everyone else, tire sizes. I believe they both retail tires through Summit, so check a variety of sources before you drop the cash on them as you may find the exact same tire somewhere else for less.
