I cannot see the radiator support in the pics you were initially furnished but, the car would have come with the numbers that match the last 6 on the vin stamped on the left side of the support and would have a 26" radiator with a 7-blade clutch fan from the factory.

Don't take this the wrong way because I appreciate your comments but your driving me nuts with these beyond basic charactistics of identifying a Charger.  :brickwall:

Ghoste

I'm sure I'm just misunderstanding you somehow but are you saying the Hemi and the SE package could not be had together in 1969?

thats corrcet  Ghoste  ,

could not order the A47 special edition  package on a J-code Hemi  69 charger
but you could order it in 1970  on a   which is  now  a  R - code Hemi charger  :yesnod:

Ghoste

There are no 69 RT SE Chargers with Hemi's, only 440's?  All these years and I never realized that!!

charge69

Sydmoe,  no problem as I do tend to rattle on these days. I am sure there is enough info. in this thread to easily identify a real Hemicharger now.

Ghoste

It does seem strange.  I admit to being surprised at learning this and a little pleased too (learning something each day is always a plus).

DC_1

I don't have the funds to buy and finish this car or just buy and sit on it so this is more just of interest since the car is local.

Does seem to be an unusual car combination if it is legit.

426 Hemi
White W1
red interior
black stripe
black vinyl roof
column shift
8 3/4 not Dana

Ghoste

8 3/4 with the automatic would be correct.  It is an interesting color combo isn't it?

69 OUR/TEA

If it was triple green I'd be interested!!!!!! :drool5: Or black I geuss!!!!

I like the color combo too.

In addition to all the hemi body stuff missing, I do not like buying a car where the shell is painted. I'd rather see it before bodywork. Too many "Jam Jobs" out there.

Thats why I prefer project cars and do them myself !!!!!!

Yup....Steve is on point!  Doing his homework.....wanna run a '69 Registry? :scratchchin:

PS--the car was on eBay recently...tried to get info but he forwarded me the same tag info as was posted in this thread

Just got an email from the owner. He is claiming that there are "many scam artist" out there and therefore will not send the complete VIN, pics of the documentation or body stampings. He wants me to come see the car to verify these things. In a way I see his point as he himself gives the impression that something is not right with his evasiveness. I am still skeptical the car is even legit..... smells of a rebody.

mikepmcs

but he wouldn't give you the 5th character in the vin?  conveniently left out...maybe?? just seems strange not to provide at least up to the sequence number. my $.02.
one things for sure. if he aint legit he aint gettin away with shit.. if he's a fraud, the whole world is about to know it.

on another note....that's a lot of goddam money to throw out for a boat anchor. #justsayin

hopefully he happens upon this site and reads this very thread.

mines XP29G9B by the way.  See.... wasn't that hard now was it. :smilielol:
scam away.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

gtx6970

IMO, the only way it's going to come even close to 45K is if everything is done and just needs assembled.Meaning the drivetrain, interior, suspension, etc etc etc is done and only needs detailed and installed. Per the ebay listing it sounds like the drivetrain still needs done yet,,,,,,,, Even then I have my doubts. Again , provided it's legit

To many cars avail in a better color combination and maybe 4 spd for around the 100K mark.

Wasn't there a 1968 Hemi Charger avail recently that was a nice survivor car advertised in the 125K range( black car I believe ) And I remember a red 68 hemi car avail recently as well. Both were on this site for sale for some time and apparently no bites

me personally, I like the white with burgandy int and column auto, but I'm weird

Well, while some of you smell something fishy about missing torque boxes and specific hemi braces,I'll add one more...........the option codes show the car having N85.Really,wheres the hole for it???????Supposed to be right below the hole for the headlight vac harness, hmmmmmmmmmm, not there. This body was'nt even a fact tach car!!!!! :Twocents:

See Just69's ebay link, look at eng bay pic thru the rad support.

DC_1

I think i am going to arrange to go see it on the weekend. It has my curiosity now. He claims to have the fender tag, build sheet and date coded block and tranny. I don't know how he could think he would get away with passing it off as a true Hemi car with so many missing telltale signs yet go to the effort of scabbing in the body stamps to a doner XP body.

DC_1

The Ebay pics also show doors inside the car that are lacking Hemi emblem holes. I mean maybe the doors are from another car but appears the doors are most likely original to this non-hemi body.

Even if the body did have the Hemi torque boxes, what would that really prove?  That stuff is no secret and you can add it onto a car in one weekend for a few hundred bucks.

IMHO the only way to really know a car's numbers match once it has been that far apart is to track the history.  See if the trail of owners and their stories all seem legit or not.
