I have recently come upon someone selling a non# 69 Hemi Charger. Body is complete and in paint but car needs almost everything as well as assembly. What is the current market price?

Also, can you see torque boxes in these photos?

gtx6970

kind of hard to say 100% , but I don't see any of the Hemi car torque boxes or re-inforcements .

Thats not to say it's not a factory screw up, but just warrents a closer inspection in person

value will vary A LOT depending  on how complete it is  AND if it's a real J code car

charge69

Well , I will be interested in seeing the selling price also and , no , I do not see torque boxes on that car. I doubt that started life as a Hemicharger.

The person who buys this still has a lot of money yet to spend on it , Hemi or not.

gtx6970

I'll add, if it's either a clone or something else, Add up the value  the parts and adding  maybe 10% will probably get you close.

Aligning body panels with a car thats been painted in pieces is a huge risk to not damage the paint .

I'm dealing with this very issue right now

looking under there !!  nothing points to it being a Hemi body shell ! from that rear angle , i'm thinking you should see 7 hemi only re -enforcement parts  :scratchchin:
but like Bill said  , some cars had them missing  factory mistakes ete   , but this body has not  anything from what i can see

that car was on ebay the other week  !  , forgot to save the pictures from the ad ! i sent Chris  of just6T9CHGR the link ,  not sure he has got any pictures saved

I agree,

I haven't seen the car in person and the pics where sent to me by a freind who said he knows a guy with a hemi charger for sale. Guy is asking $45k as it sits. I couldn't tell if the torque boxes where there but i asked for a pic of the trunk lip, rad cradle stamping, fender tag, and build sheet he claims to have.

I figured the car needed anothe $60-70k in parts and labour to be done right

DC_1

you can see the column under the car. According to the fender tag codes he sent me it is a white car with black stripe, red interior, column shift

y3chargerrt

Did he show you the numbers stamped in the body?

gtx6970

Is it worth $45K as it sits is dependant on how complete it is and what needs done to finish it , my initial repsonse is,,  No but without more info it's just a guess

logical reasoning is ask.

Is a white , column auto hemi car worth $130K to $150K in todays market?  IMO, I doubt it

They sent you a listing of the codes on the fender tag but not the complete VIN ? If it is a real Hemicar, it would have a "J" code right after the XS29 such as a XS29J9B3213XX. I am also not sure you could get the A01 light package with the R/T as I thought that was part of the R/T package in 1969 and Charger R/T's were not coded for it.. Mine is not coded for the light package but it is there and, maybe it could be added and coded on the tag. I do have the buildsheet for it

Mine was assembled in Hamtramck, noted by the "B" coded in the VIN and I think all 1969 Hemicharger R/T's were made there. I am not positive about that, though.

The code "D32" in 1969 is the heavy duty 727 auto and not necessarily a column shift as mine is console shift and has "D32" coded on the fender tag and the buildsheet.

I still think this car was not and is not an original Hemicar.

I can't see the torque boxes nor the rear gusset reenforcements on the rear framerail. I do think I see the additional pinion snubber reenforceement plate. Now, the leaf spring forward hanger plate doesn't seem to be visible either....

69 OUR/TEA

Just speaking body wise, just my  :Twocents:,that lower body line before it gets to the rocker panel level looks alittle "to sharp" to me ,as well as the bend to turn under and be the rocker panel.
Were all the parts with the car, eng, tranny, interior, bumpers, grill, etc, etc? And what solid doc's are there, vin's,fender tag,BS???? Someone inspect the car in person........

DC_1

So what are the things added to a basic 68 or 69 RT when equiped with a Hemi motor?

from what I know

"J" code 5th digit in the VIN
E74 code in fender tag and build sheet
torque boxes
front rear frame reinforcements at spring perch
back rear frame gussets
pinion snubber reinforcement
door emblems
?

I haven't seen the car in person but am trying to make those arrangements.

I think the light and shadows could be making the body line look more defined than it is, but I will definately make a mental note to check that out

I have asked for pics of all avaialble parts, documentation, complete VIN and fender tag.

charge69

I cannot see the radiator support in the pics you were initially furnished but, the car would have come with the numbers that match the last 6 on the vin stamped on the left side of the support and would have a 26" radiator with a 7-blade clutch fan from the factory. Factory A/C was not an option on the Hemicars and the firewall should definitely be a non-a/c firewall with a 3-speed wiper assy. there. I think the 3-speed wiper assy. was needed for aircleaner clearance on the Hemicars. Not real sure about the wipers but mine had the 3-speed wiper assy. on it and I heard it was for clearance. It makes sense.

Carl, there's nothing that states XS cars couldn't get the A01 package. The A01 could come on any model, even my Daytona and C500 are A01 car.  If there's no C16 and it's a D32, it's column by default.

Thanks Troy, I wasn't sure about the light package. I guess I do not have it then as it is not listed as a group on my car. On the code D32, it is a code for the heavy duty 727 auto and could be either a column shift or a console shift. Meant it to come out that way but, I guess I was unclear. On my build sheet's listing for TRANS, the last three digits (094) is listed and 32 is listed right next to it under a column called "PIN". I don't know exactly what PIN is but, it is a column on the 1969 build sheet I have for my car.

i noticed that also , body lines too crisp ,  :yesnod: :scratchchin:
yes on a R/T , A01 is the light group package  :yesnod:  its  the A47 SE package that could not be ordered on the Hemi  , well for 69 , you could in 1970

as much as i would love to own a J code  69 charger  :drool5:  ,  no matter how  good a deal it is !!    no matter what the stamped  numbers say  & codes  , would not even bother looking at that  , because its missing all the hemi reinforcement parts !!
we all know how things can be re stamped &  the  original sheet metal with the vin welded in !!
:Twocents: :Twocents:
now if it was an unrestored barn find  , might be worth having a good look !!   but the factory it not going to leave off every  Hemi reinforcement part  !!  are they  ??  :shruggy: :popcrn:

even IF it is a factory mistake , your going to be forever & a day explaining to people  that is is a real J code

sorry i would give it a miss  :Twocents:
