So I'm checking NADA yesterday to get an idea of what our cars are worth. NADA didn't ask for a zip code, perhaps their values are based on a country wide average? Anyway, the site said my 69 R/T, now that its finished, is worth $70,740!!!!!! Wow

Hmmm, I get asked for asked for a zipcode.  Maybe you used it recently and it has the zip stored in the pc cookie. It puts  a 69 Charger R/T 440 4spd AC at 60K topped out here.  MY Coronet R/T was with same options $26k avg.  Put it on Ebay two times with reserve set at 21K and best I got was $18750.  I don't believe the values are in touch with the actual selling.  Seeing some nice cars not getting a lot.

NADA values are useless - unless your insurance company or lender determines the car's worth that way. Any car is worth what someone else is willing to pay for it and I don't think I've ever seen a car sell for what NADA claims. In this market, they aren't anywhere close. Last time I checked it had my 68 R/T 4-speed valued at $92k. I think $65k is about the most I'd ever seen from a legitimate sale.

:iagree:  I can't ever remember a time that NADA was in touch with reality.

I have been looking at tons of cars and monitor ebay almost daily (I am in the market so if your out there :callme:), I have seen some oddball sales (I assume someone has to have it) but for the most part a good condition 68-69 RT auto seems to move at or below the 35k mark these days. 4spds get to the high 20s with non original components and or custom builds and obviously over the 35k mark for original components in a nice car.    I have seen several examples of RTs sit (craigslist/oldride/carsonline) for a long time in the low 40s and up.  Now granted I am not there for every sale nor do I inspect every car, it's based upon judgment and the help of others reviewing the cars and watching how long they live before they disappear or are marked sold. It's also possible that folks are not selling their newly restored cars (i.e the market is all projects and older restorations) unless they are strapped and must sell simply because its a buyers market and they delay as long as they possibly can before taking the beating.  :shruggy: Simply put YMMV, as Troy stated

Wow!  I just did my car and it asked for my zip code.  High value of $40,000.   I know the economy hurt the value of my car but holy crap.  That little for my car?  I was thinking at least in the $50s.

Is your car a survivor? (original paint and interior?)

[edit] - Cases in point:
An original owner survivor 68 383 4bbl console 4spd (no AC) #s and I believe broadcast sheet car in QQ1 with white interior sold on ebay earlier this year for 29k. (7 day auction)

Another (that looked original) 68 4bbl console 383 4spd in Maroon/black with AC sold for 20k. (BIN)

Collector car values are all over the board these days. NADA can put a number on a car, but the real number will be what someone is willing to pay for it. NADA is more a guide of what a car was worth in the past, not what it is worth today. It's hard to sell water to a thirsty person in todays economy!

Nope.  Car is completely factory fresh restored down to the smallest detail and inspection mark.  Didn't you see my charger out at Carlisle last year?

I did see the car but for some reason I thought it was original paint/interior. Too many things going on in the old rattle can to keep track these days I guess.  :shruggy:

Ill miss it this year though.  :-\
