I agree early 60's mopar a bodies had a face only a mother could love. A guy around here has a 75 Charger also, I will take a Dodge Magnum too please.

Hey!  Don't pick on my bug eyed electric razor (64 Dart GT convertible with a 273).

:icon_smile_big:  I like that description, it does a really good imitation too, there is a sweet 64 Dart GT Convert 273 for sale on craigslist here for $4000, black on black, great looking little car

I'm sorry but a 190hp, detuned big block in a nearly 4000lb tank like that may be a nice cruiser but it's no muscle car.

It may have been acceptable for that period but that's really not pertinent. It seems to me that it either is or isn't, not a question of relativity.

Just to be fair, I like the cars. I just can't talk myself into calling it "muscle".

I got four of these cars. 2 Charger Se and 2 Cordoba's. I pick them up for real cheap a few years ago. Yea they are not as good looking as the earlier cars. But I like the fact that when I go to a show somewhere no one has another. Or if they are there mine looks way better and then I have to talk to everyone cause I seem have become the expert on these body styles.

Here is my 76 Charger
1976 Dodge Charger SE 318/904
1977 Dodge Charger SE T-TOP 440/727
1977 Chrysler Cordoba 360/727
1977 Chrysler Cordoba 400/727

Then again, a 68 with a 318 column shift automatic and highway gears could hardly be called a musclecar either.

If you're looking for an argument, you're not getting it from me.

Thanks for chiming in.
Not a bad looking car imo.
As said, they were probably similar in styling to many other cars of the time and I also like a lot of those too.
Gotta love a '69

no way can Chargers like this be called "muscle cars" but does it matter? every person that owns a 4th generation Charger is one less person buying a Honda Civic or something of the sort...

and besides, 1977 SE's are the best looking Chargers of all time  :nana:
1977 Dodge Charger SE - Sold 4/18/15
2013 Chevrolet Camaro RS
1993 GMC K1500
1943 Farmall A

Hey all,

Maybe I can sum up things this way.......there were 4 periods in the muscle car era way back when for the Charger. The transition into (1st gen), the all in (2nd gen), the transition out of (3rd gen), and the out of (4th gen). Don't get me wrong, lines got very blurred the closer to the "all in" period and options chosen for the year.

I love all the 1st three gens and came very close to owning a restored silver 1st gen '67 with a 383 and still think about that car.

Anyway, there you go.

4th Gens are nice luxury cars but just because you slap a name plate on a car doesn't create a personna.

Hey, let's play a game...below are 4 cars Chrysler put a 'Charger" name plate on, which one do you think fits the name better?

:iagree:  or a chebby for that matter.

The prez of our club has a really mean 77.  Don't remember his numbers at the track but it was respectable.

More fitting names:

1. Cordoba
2. Omni
3. St. Regis

By the way, 5 MPH bumpers automatically disqualify a car from being a muscle car in my book.

I like the discocharger and the omnicharger but what do I know?
