removing door light sensor

The pin that comes through the door seal area from under the dash allows the lights to come on when door open. I am removing my entire dash and those are the last things hanging. The pin will not push through the hole as it is attached to the mounting nut. The wire does not have a bracket to unclip that will fit through that hole either. Suggestions?

Unscrews out the front then wire plugs into the back of the switch.
