Hey guys, this department I don't know very well,on the 66-69 bendix 4 piston caliper cars, what is involved to change over to the 70 and up reg single piston slide caliper as far as spindles go?Do they just bolt right on?Or do you have to change the whole spindle out?
Had my orig 4 piston calipers rebuilt, sleeved with SS and all, bled them all out, eberything works fine and as it just sits there, are both leaking.Looks like it is leaking between the two halves????Not from the lines or bleeder screws. If I go to take them off to send back, just want to know if I can do something as easy as going to Napa and buy the 1970 calipers/pads and throw them on to drive the car. Thanks

The spindles (knuckles) are different, to change to the floating caliper you need all of the associated parts.

The best source for a swap is a '73-'76 A body outlined in the link below.

The F, J, M, R body swap is also popular but controversial to some.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks, thought it was simpler than that.Would have swapped out just to get the car driving and have the calipers fixed, then swap back into place. The whole front end is all done, painted, detailed, etc,so I'll deal with fixing the problem. I called the place that did the calipers and they told me to send them back, that it sounds like the seal between the 2 halves could have been put in wrong.Figures I could'nt put this thing together without some freaking aggravation.

I have been having a lot more luck without the s/steel sleeves.

Greaaaaat,to late for that!!!!!Thought it was the right thing to do!!!!Like I said, they are going back to the place for them to see what is going on,hopefully it gets fixed.

Hope they straighten them out for you.

gtx6970

nothing interchanges between the 2 designs

also, as a possible solution without the hassle to rebox and ship them back and forth , split the 2 them and replace the square cut o-rings between the 2 halves

I was just going to get this done, where did you get them?
God must love stupid people....he made a sh**load of 'em....

Had them done at King Kalipers in MA,called and spoke to them, gotta take them back off and send them in and they will check out why they are doing that and fix them,no cost.At least they will be trying to make good on them.
