Does anybody run wheel adapters on their Charger? Do they work ok? Any Pics?

I threw these on the back of my car just to move the wheels closer to the fender for a better look:

They were a good quality.

I would be V E R Y cautious about using adapters or spacers on any performance car.
In a fairly tame car that you do NOT push too hard, maybe they would be okay. The cost of bodywork after tossing a wheel would certainly discourage me from using them.

that's what i always thought too. now i see  a lot of Japanese race cars use them on high hp cars  with success.  :shruggy:

There are a number of very high quality, high strength adapters on the market now that will stand up to a fair amount of abuse. I think spacers got a bad rep from the wide spread use of the chinzty, cast aluminum, easy to break crap sold in parts stores for the past 30 years. The best ones are billet pieces that bolt on to the hub then bolt to the wheel seperatly. Would I use them on the street, sure, even a basic bracket car could probably get away with it if the tech guys don't catch it. However, most racing governing bodies still do not allow them and I tend to agree. If your dropping the coin to go racing, you might as well do a bit of homework to get the right wheel spacing to fit your car.

Matthan

Sounds like a lot of ppl don't run them on their Chargers but is their anybody that currently has them on their Charger?

I have a pair of Vector rims that I need adapters if I want to run them. Just build a street car stock 383 2bbl.

i would use lock tight on the nuts holding the adapters to the drum  :Twocents:

I would just make them Unilug and bolt them to the original hub.

Given the general disdain for them, I don't know that a lot of users will admit to it. However, most mopars you see that are using the late model Mustang "Bullit" wheel are using spacers, otherwise they won't fit. I've seen a number of these cars using these wheels too.

Matthan

Well I figured somebody would use them on here.

my 73 charger came with wheels from an 07 charger. it has the adapters on it because the grease cap on the front disc brakes rotors hit the inside of the new charger wheels. the adapters look to be made from a quality metal but next time i have the wheels off i'm going to check for locktite on the drums/rotors as suggested above.... i'm not sure if i'm sold on the 17 in rims though...

Not sure if i like em, but the car looks nice  :coolgleamA:

BTW its a bleeder valve for the brakes, not to be confused with a grease fitting

Or are you referring to the upper or lower ball joint grease fitting? Not the bleeder valve on the caliper like i thought.

HANDM

I have wheel spacers on the front of the 69 right now because the rallyes from the challenger were rubbing the upper control arms.

It said on the package to make sure that you can engage at least half of the factory threads.......I'm not all that comfortable with it but without hard cash for tires to put the vectors on, I'll just have to deal with a little discomfort
