Have a 68 Charger R/T. There is a blue ignition box bolted on to the passanger side fender. The lable is all worn off but stamped in the casing is  " Prestolite" Is this the factory ignition ?

My searches only brought up stuff about Prestolite Distributors !! thanks

The Prestolite Transignitor was an aftermarket transistor ignition offered by Mopar, they were available with either a blue heat sink or a black heat sink and both used a standard dual-point distributor.

The black unit was discontinued in the mid sixties but the blue (called the Prestolite 252) was still available in the seventies under the kit P/N P2875012.

Once the electronic ignition became available the Transignitor was deemed obsolete.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

hmm ok then this is not an electronic ignition setup then

Since it still uses the point distributor it's not a true electronic ignition, just transistorized.
