Tin Can??

I am working on a 68 Charger and it's in pieces. I found this tin can in one of the boxes. What is this? Do I need it? What does it do? I've found other parts that don't even belong to this car, so want to make sure if I need it or not.

Ah, ok! Mine has a couple pinholes in it from rust. Is it ok to use, or do I need to buy a new one?

Just sand it down, apply JB weld and repaint.
Otherwise you will basically have a vacuum leak.

I have a vacuum reservoir in front of the radiator support. it is used for the vacuum operated A/C controls in the car as far as I know (my A/C was removed so I can't prove it).

But it doesn't look like the can in the picture - it is shaped like a hamburger.

yes - 70 chargers had a smaller can (shorter) mounted on the core support to operate A/C controls - at least thats what I remember when I restored an original owner 70...

That makes sense of course it needs vacuum for the ac operation
