Well Clayton's car is my test bed for new tech lol.  I'll wait and see how this EFI works for him and then I'll make the jump...

I'm pretty impressed with what I've read in the last couple days across the web on this system.  It'll be interesting to see how durable it is, long-term.  I may have to pick one up anyway.

I'll be sure to keep updates going on how the EFI performs.  :2thumbs:  Hopefully I chose the right product. At least if any injectors or sensors fail, they are available at any auto parts store.

White and Red, just curious as to the specs of your engine??

It's a mild build built more towards reliability than max power:
72 block bored 30 over
forged crank
flat top pistons with a 9.5 compression ratio
ARP studs and bolts throughout
346 heads with a mild port (hopefully going to be swapped out for a set of Trick Flows in the next few months)
Unknown cam specs but its a mild one with a little extra over stock
Edelbrock RPM intake
FiTech EFI setup
1 7/8 TTI headers with a 3" exhaust
Firecore distributor and plug wires
MSD 6AL ignition box

Had it on the dyno back in February and the results to the wheels was 346 hp with 493 ft lbs of tq. Had ignition and fuel issues on the dyno so the horsepower on the top end should be a bit better now with the firecore distributor and the EFI. Hoping to go back soon and have another go at it to see if the numbers improved.   :2thumbs:

Well its been a few months since the EFI has been installed so I thought i'd post a update on how its been running. And it is still working perfect! The car starts, runs, idles, and accelerates so much smoother than before and I have almost nothing bad to say about the setup. My only gripes have been with the handheld unit. Once it just wouldn't connect to the ecu and another time the touch screen wouldn't let me select anything. But the guys at FiTech ran me through some troubleshooting on it and since then has worked perfect.

Another issue I had was with the II Much fuel vent(not with the vent itself but with my mounting location). I had it just slightly above the tank but it had a slight low spot in the line. So I cut a new hole above the shock tower and reinstalled it.

My only regret with FiTech is I didn't spend the extra money to get the power adder setup. I didn't care at the time about controlling both my electric fans and the added features but now that I am familiar with it I really wish I went with the upgraded one. Depending on money, I might bite the bullet and order one of their newer systems and sell the one currently on the car.

As for now I need to start getting the car ready for another Optima event. So its time for aluminum heads, new tires, and fix a few nagging issues I have with the car. So I will try and post up some of the updates I am going to do before the event.

Yep!  Said part is that I have a Quick Fuel carb that has never been out of  the box that I would be selling too.  :eek2:   Wish I hadn't ordered it ahead of time, cause I would have went with the FI Tech system like you have.   I love the direction you have taken that car in the last few years that i have been Stalking/Following it.   :yesnod:  :coolgleamA:

Depending on which QF you have we may all get what we want here.  I was going to buy a Proform 750 mechanical secondaries with electric choke.  The QF is pretty much identical so if it has the same specs I can buy your carb and you can buy Clayton's FI  system.   :2thumbs:

That is awesome man. I just installed the fitech unit on mine this weekend too. Same tanks Inc setup and all.  (I'm not going to be able to finish mine 100% for another week or so though. I love it so far.)

Two questions? How did you wire in the ignition on wire? What did you tap into?

And are you using the built in ignition timing control, or running fuel control only?

Nice build man.

I forget what it is called, but it is a double pumper, mechanical secondaries, without a choke.  I live in the south so I went with no choke, suppose to flow a little better.  :shruggy:

I remembered an old post from Autodynamics and Rolling Thunder where they had the wiper arms polished and always said I was going to do the same. Well I finally got around to it and I think they look sweet! But now the fresh polish on the arms makes the windshield trim look dull   :brickwall:   so add some more polishing to the never ending list of work.

Looks great - took me forever to polish mine

Thanks JR   It's a great setup, you'll be very happy with it. My ignition wire is tapped into what used to be the positive coil wire. With the MSD ignition box the ballast gets bypassed and spliced together making that blue wire hot in key on and cranking.

Just running the fuel control as of now. I wanted to get to know the system first before I make it control everything but eventually I'm going to add the timing control in.

What are the nagging issues with your car?  Also, what tires will you be running?

There is always the never ending list myk   Nothing major but I've got a speedometer that's off by 15mph, passenger side blinker quit working for some reason, gas gauge 1/4 of a tank off, have an annoying squeak coming from the heater box over bumps that is driving me nuts, have a slight voltage drop (goes down to 12.5V) when the dual fans kick on so I want to get that 100% right, shifter light isn't working, small transmission leak, and just some cleanup issues that bug me. Also kinda want to redo my fuel lines after seeing Keepats setup but that can wait til my wallet recovers from the holidays and future car parts.

For tires I wanted the same BFG's but they are discontinued so it will be Falken Azenis RT615K in 245/40/18 and 295/40/18. I also like the BFG Rivals but can't get them in the sizes needed.

For the shifter light measure the voltage.  I couldn't get an led to work in there so went back to an incandescent until I can figure out why I only have 9-10 volts at that socket.  The led needs more than that to work.  Stick a plain bulb in there and see if it lights up.

Sounds like sticky tires.  I'll check those out, since some of you guys have convinced me that my tires are the weak point of my suspension now...

I'm wishing that I bought the Falkens after seeing my Nitto NT01s fare poorly in a Tire Rack test against 9 others. The Dunlop Direzza scored on top though. They didn't make tires in my preferred size though.
