                                            MORE NOS PARTS!
As the restoration went on I was able to find a few more NOS parts to enhance the Superbird!
This batch of pictures shows some of those parts known to some as "jewelry"!
The first picture is of an NOS pair of emergency brake cables.
The second picture is of an NOS ballast resistor.
The third picture is of an NOS starter relay.
The last picture is of an NOS antenna bezel. ENJOY!

                                                                    NOSE CONE BRACKETS!
Here we start off with the main brackets for the nose cone.
I had touched these up before I put the NOS nose on for the Cleveland meet.
The first picture is of one of the brackets before restoration.
The second picture shows the brackets sanded and ready for primer.
The last two pictures show the brackets now in black primer!

                                                                 MORE TRUNK AREA DETAILS!
Here we showcase some of the rare detail items in the trunk area!
The first picture is of all the NOS sidemarker parts.
The second picture is of the taillight covers that are usually missing or broken.
The third picture shows the taillight covers cleaned up.
The last picture is of the Mopar bag that the rear body wire harness 2983359 came in! WOW!

                                                                        WASHER BOTTLE DETAILS!
The first picture in this batch shows the original washer pump.
These are hard to find with the correct mold spot on the elbow!
The second picture is of the washer bottle caps.
The correct one for 1969 production is the one without the wording.
The third picture shows the washer bottle parts ready to go.
The last picture is of the original trunk weatherstrip cleaned up and ready also!
The many detailed parts will be added to the body soon!

Nice stuff John! The proper washer pumps are hard to find - period.....and with a good date - almost impossible. There was a guy restoring these but he is now in a hippie commune sucking on a hookah.

Mopar John

THANKS JIM!
I think Jules the wiperman was doing some work on washer pumps to go with his wiper motors
before he passed away?
Some others are doing motors now but not pumps.
You mention date coded parts and they are all getting hard to find.
I am saving all the old dated stuff now hoping someone will come up with a way
to restore some of them.
I have some starter relays, horn relays and a power steering hose all with great dates.
We have done some work on replating some parts but they just don't look correct.

                                                                       REAR BUMPER ASSEMBLY!
Today I will be posting on the Superbird rear bumper assembly!
It seems simple but there are a lot of parts that make up this assembly!
There will be several posts with pictures of this!
The first two pictures in this batch show the license plate bracket front and back before restoration.
The third picture shows the bracket hardware bead blasted.
The last picture shows the bracket hardware restored.
In the last picture the spring is a NOS part I found.

In this batch I show the license plate bracket completed!
The first picture shows the license plate bracket cleaned up.
This was the best original I had with nice spangle in the galvanizing!
You won't find that in the reproductions that have just come out.
The second picture shows the license plate bracket assembly restored and ready!
The last two pictures show the rear bumper hardware before and after restoration!

                                                                         REAR BUMPER ASSEMBLY PART 3!
In this batch of pictures I show the original reverse lamp assemblies.
The first picture shows the front view.
The second picture shows the back view before restoration.
The third picture shows the housings restored.
We are using the original housings because they look great!

                                                                    REAR BUMPER ASSEMBLY PART 4!
In this batch we show some more NOS parts
The first picture is of the left NOS backup lamp lens 3420583.
The second picture is of the right NOS backup lens 3420582.
The last picture is of the rare NOS license plate lamp assembly 3403941.
It looks simple now but the parts were gathered over time.
In fact I had bought an NOS license plate lamp lens and later found the assembly.
The extra lens is now in the parts for sale section.

                                                                                REAR BUMPER ASSEMBLY PART 5!

All that's left is to install it on the Superbird body!

                                                          REAR BUMPER ASSEMBLY FINAL!
I only have one picture here and it's of the rear bumper assembly installed on the Superbird body!
This was a great day moving toward completion. Enjoy!

Love the "spangle" (your coined term from a few years ago) on that license plate bracket.

Thanks for pointing that out Gene!
I thought so much of it I went back and modified my post on the bracket.

The Red Barns show is a week from tomorrow on the 25th!
The Daytona is on display there and I will be there with my car hauler full of left overs and mistakes and more!
The Superbird will not be there. The next show will probably the AERO WARRIOR REUNION at Talladega.

                                                                      SUPERBIRD 727 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION!
In this batch of pictures I will show you some restoration work on the Superbird 727 transmission.
The transmission was rebuilt by my friend and racing partner Keith Long the "727 SPECIALIST".
The first picture shows a nice original rtansmission inspection cover also with some nice spangle not found on repros!
The second picture shows the original transmission pan that we are going to use.
I went over to Keiths and he let me sort through a stack of these about three foot high!
I picked out the best 3 and took them with me to Troy's shop.
The last two pictures show the pan Troy selected and now restored! WOW!

                                                               AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PART 3!
In this batch of pictures I cover the linkage pivot that goes through the floor and the speedometer gear housing clip and bolt.
The first picture shows the original through the floor linkage pivot.
The second picture shows the speedometer gear housing clip and bolt before restoration.
The last picture shows these same parts restored!

                                                              AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PART 4!
In this batch of pictures we move on to the transmission case.
The first two pictures show what the case looked like before restoration.
Keith cleaned it up when he rebuilt it and it didn't look that bad to start.
The last two pictures show the transmission case after restoration!
Looks even better now!

                                                         AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PART 5!
You can't have a nice transmission and not have the correct bolts to mount it to the engine.
In this batch of pictures I show the correct transmission mounting bolts before and after restoration.
The first picture is an overall before restoration.
The second picture shows the correct head markings before restoration.
The last two pictures show the same views after restoration!
The transmission is now ready for the engine assembly!

The first picture is of an NOS neutral safety switch for the transmission part number 2932820.
The second picture is of an NOS transmission fluid dipstick part number 2466302.
