                                                        HOOD TOP SIDE REPAIRS!
After seeing how much work was done on the bottom side the top side of the hood was rather simple!
The first picture shows a dent that was right on the center body line that bugged me for years! The second picture shows the dent repaired and the hood now in glazing putty. The third and fourth pictures show the hood in primer!
That's it for the hood! In my next installment I will show how the donor 1970 Coronet headlight buckets were added to the NOS Superbird fender skins! ENJOY!

                             ORIGINAL HEADLIGHT BUCKETS BEING ADDED TO THE NOS FENDER SKINS!!
I have to get moving along on posting pictures as I am way behind and have another batch on the way!
This segment shows how headlight buckets were removed from donor fenders and added to the NOS fender skins!
The first picture shows the donor drivers side bucket. The second picture shows the removal of the spot welds for that bucket. The third picture shows the bucket removed from the donor fender and ready for a bead blast. The last picture shows the drivers fender skin that it will be added to.

                                                   HEAD LIGHT BUCKETS PART 2!
In this batch of pictures we continue with the headlight buckets. The first picture shows the passengers side bead blasted. The second picture shows the fender skins primered in the area where the buckets will be added. The third picture shows the passsengers side bucket now in primer! The last picture shows the drivers side bucket now being welded to the fender skin! ENJOY!
Soon I will be back with the fenders and hood on the body and the alignment of all the gaps!

Thanks tan top! Today we continue with the front fenders! The first picture shows the drivers fender on the body looking from the engine compartment. The second picture is of the drivers fender on the body from the out side. The third picture shows the drivers fender from the front. The last picture in this batch shows the drivers fender hood bumper support panel now welded in place!

                                                    SUPERBIRD FRONT END ASSEMBLY!!
The first picture in this batch shows the passengers fender and hood now on the body! The second picture shows the drivers hood bumper panel with the welds ground and the new spot welds in place! The third picture is of the same work done to the passengers hood bumper panel. The last picture shows the front end all installed on the body! This was a definate WOW moment for me! Next up will be all the work to get the gaps even!

                                           SUPERBIRD BODY DOOR TO FENDER GAPS!
With the front end sheet metal now mounted on the body it was time to work on the gaps. First up was the gaps between the doors and fenders. The first picture shows a passengers side overall. The second picture shows the passengers side top portion with note. The third picture is another passengers gap overall. The last picture in this batch shows the passengers lower portion and note.

                                                  DOOR TO FENDER GAPS PART 2!
In this batch of pictures we continue on with the door to fender gaps! The first picture is now around to the drivers side and shows an overall view of the gap. The second picture shows the drivers door removed from the body and bead blasted on the lower portion? The third picture shows it welded along the edge to correct the gap once installed! The last picture shows the edge welding ground and the door back on the body! The gap looks much better now! ENJOY!

Did I ever tell you how much easier it is to restore a Superbird?
Just take the rear of the car - Stock trunk lid, no chrome opening or trim, no chrome trim around the tail lights, And best of all no organisol tail light panel!

                                     FINAL PREP WORK SUPERBIRD FRONT FENDERS!
With the gaps all done it was time to move on and get the fenders ready. The first picture show the passengers side fender in glazing putty and now with the valance corner installed! The second picture shows a bare drivers side fender also with the valance corner installed. The third picture shows the passengers fender primed, sanded and ready for final primer. The last picture shows the same of the drivers side fender.

                                                 FENDER PREP WORK PART 2!
The work continues to get the front fenders in final primer! The first picture shows the drivers fender now in final primer. The second picture shows the passengers door to fender gap now in final primer. The third picture shows the passengers front corner all in final primer. The last picture shows the drivers front corner also all in final primer.
This was a great moment for me knowing all the work was complete and the body in primer!
In my next segment we will move on to the nose cone! STAY TUNED!

                                                          SUPERBIRD NOSE CONE!
With the body ready it was now time to install the nose and line everthing up. In preperation for this you will see the Z brackets being installed in the first two pictures. The third picture shows the top inner piece I had fabricated for the NOS nose cone to go to the Cleveland meet. The last picture shows the nose on the body with the latch tray in place. You will also see that the top inner piece is now in place and welded to the nose cone!
Next up will be nose to fender, hood and valance corner alignments!

                                   NOSE - FENDER - VALANCE ALIGNMENTS!
With the Z brackets installed it was time to mount the nose cone and see how things lined up. The first picture is the top of the nose and the front of the hood. The second picture is of the drivers side gap between the fender and nose. The last picture is of the same view from the passengers side. The nose is back on!

                                                PASSENGERS SIDE VALANCE CORNER!
  After moving the nose around and making some adjustments it was decided that the passengers valance corner needed to be modified to line up better. The first picture shows the valance corner cut. The second picture shows it welded. The third picture shows it back on the body. The last picture shows the welding now ground.

The first picture shows the drivers side valance corner mods. The second picture shows it welded. The third picture is of the nose in glazing putty. The last picture shows the nose with the glazing putty sanded!

                                              THE NOSE ASSEMBLY IS IN PRIMER!
With all the work done and the glazing putty sanded it was time to put the nose assembly in primer!
The first picture is a front view. The second picture is of the passengers side and the last picture is of the drivers side. WOW!
  These are the final pictures of the disc! I have another disc to start on and just received another yesterday! So I'm still way behind! STAY TUNED!

                                                            HELP NEEDED!
Yesterday I took a trip to see my transmission builder and racing partner Keith Long the 727 SPECIALIST. He had a stack of 727 transmission pans he sorted through for me. I was there to find a mint one for the Superbird project. He ended up giving me the best 3 to clean up and eventually have the best one on the Superbird. The project is rolling at great speed now and my want list is small. There are a few items that I still need and have posted them in the parts wanted section. So take a look when you get a chance and see if you or someone you know can help with any of these final parts?

Hey John,
That all looks familiar! I was working in different areas to get my alignment worked out.(Technically it wasn't me but I was doing the approvals to keep working on the lines and gaps)
Did you get that hood to nose center line to look a little better? I was surprised to see that mine didn't line up either but just chalked it up to the shop not getting the nose on properly until I started looking around and there was no way to get that lined up without sacrifices elsewhere. Someday I'll get the picture CD off the shop and get my pics loaded up.
