Link has a live chopper feed too.

Seems like every time my county makes it into the news it's either for graft/corruption or sick f***s.

As of now the situation is still fluid, and this could either be a horror house, or nothing at all.

One place I checked said that they were still trying to locate a Justice of the Peace to sign a search warrant, and that might not happen until 8pm CDT.

"After search of a rural southeast Texas property, local and federal law enforcement officials determined that information about a possible mass grave was a false alarm, USA TODAY's Kevin Johnson confirms. Liberty County authorities received a tip from someone claiming to be a psychic."

no bodies found... so move along folks - nothing to see here...   :pity:  A good thing too..  :yesnod:

Hence the "Possible" in "Possible mass grave".  :icon_smile_big:

Now the search switches to the informant.

This person seems to have had intimate knowledge of the house, as the article explained how the informant talked about the interior layout of the house.

You're right.  I heard that it was spread on Fox by an embarrassed local FOX affiliate yesterday morning (KNEW 910) but when I looked it up (after you posted), I saw that a bunch of outlets were fooled.  I guess I learned again not to trust FOX.  Kim

Here's a local Liberty County take on the whole deal:

"LIBERTY, June 7, 2011 - The incident on CR 2048 between Hardin and Daisetta came to a close shortly after 8:00 PM on Tuesday evening and apparently just about all the information reported by Houston Media was not true.

Local residents began calling our office around 3:30 or 4:00PM today with all kinds of information and reports they had heard on Houston Television.

This all got started around 12:30 PM on Tuesday when someone called the Sheriff's Department and made a report.

We went to the scene around 4:00 PM for a press conference held by Captain Rex Evans of the Liberty County Sheriff's Office and reported on that press conference after we returned to our offices.

A tremendous amount of resources by the news media and law enforcement were employed during this incident including on scene news helicopters.

We returned to scene the around 7:30 PM and at that time, there were ten news satellite trucks with established uplinks, numerous reporters, cameramen, sound and video paraphernalia on the scene.

Throughout the entire evening local residents could not access the blocked road and some residents earlier in the evening had been turned away and not allowed to go to their homes or the home of elderly relatives.

Law Enforcement resources dedicated to the investigation, according to Captain Rex Evans, included Sheriff's Department investigators, Texas Rangers and DPS Troopers, investigators from the District Attorney's Office and County Judge Craig McNair as well as the Hull-Damietta Volunteer Fire Department who assisted investigators in blocking the road and managing traffic control.

We interviewed some of the reporters and cameramen who attended the late evening news conference, returned to our office and contacted Captain Evans who graciously granted us a telephone interview concerning the results of the investigation.

According to reporters on the scene the incident was the result of a bad tip from a psychic who contacted the Sheriff's Department with information. According to those reporters the name of the psychic was not released.

Captain Evans told i-dineout.com, "We have not been able to determine who this individual is or what she is."

The reporters and Captain Evans told us that no evidence of a homicide or a body was found at the scene and there was no evidence of any illegal activity in or around the home.

Blood was found on the back porch of the home that was determined to be the result of a 19 year old man who had attempted suicide at the home a couple of weeks ago which was investigated by the Sheriff's Department according to Captain Evans. The blood has been there since the Sheriff's Department investigated the attempted suicide and investigators who investiagted that indident had to have known about it.

      a liberal, oh fanatical, criminal.
Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're

The news media, be it a conservative Fox network or the countless liberal ones (with their heads up inside the Democratic party's collective a$$), is assigned the task of reporting what is going on. So when dozens of local and federal law enforcement officials are mobilized to investigate reports of a mass grave it would be journalistic suicide to ignore it. This is basic stuff I know but the old hippies on this site don't seem to understand such things.

Brock Samson

fOX is just "conservative" not such a bad thing is it?..  :shruggy:
Sounds safe and unbiased in the middle, lukewarm and balanced, Right?.
However "the countless liberal ones (with their heads up inside the Democratic party's collective a$$)," Sounds oooh, so scary and uncountable cause after all we don't want multiple news organizations, we want just the one, conservative official one so we don't have to think too much (notice I spelled "too" correctly).
We "old hippies on this site" who "don't seem to understand such things." are bad bad people who might have a difference of opinion, oooh scary,..  huh Bull?.. And even worse we're old.... OLD I tell ya'. Yup, we were around before the dinosaurs and just can't be trusted, especially when we think for ourselves...   I'm glad you know what's going on Curtis, I feel really a bunch safer now.  :icon_smile_wink:

I agree, there should be only one Official News Outlet approved by the Govt.  :pity:
But cheer up you guys, that day is coming a lot sooner than you think.

I wasn't referring to you, Brock, but if the shoe fits...

Anyway, I just don't understand the paranoia "old hippies" live in that causes them to get all bent out of shape about Fox news like they do. Does the network really strike that much fear into your lives?

I'm well aware of the Fox News propensity for pre-empting and filling their news shows with extended advertising for Americas' Idol and other entertainment drivel (of theirs).
My old newspaper reporter and photographer friends and I have long, passionate and reoccurring debates about the lack of independent news sources and outlets all the time.
                                                                                         :scared:

bull

There's lots of independent news sources out there but they're not widespread because there's no money in independent news. They are all underground sources run by volunteers basically. Face it, you can't make $60k a year, own a house, start a family and have a "normal" life when you operate with an anti-establishment bent and your job is to blog about what most people consider to be conspiracy theories.

Brock Samson

Your right Curtis - a lot of the laid-off reporters are now working P.R. hack jobs like "Spokespersons" and as boilerplate writers, they're in Sacramento or Wash D.C. putting the happy spin on unpopular decisions they used to try to expose. No lack of funds, employers or takers for those jobs.  :shruggy:

Nothing/no one is completely fair and balanced.

I think that's the point.  The problem is that Fox News claims to be news, when it is instead commentary.  They claim to be fair and balanced, but are not.  There's no problem with commentary, so long as it isn't claimed to be news.  Fox News flies in the face of this.

For example:  http://www.relfe.com/media_can_legally_lie.html

Taken from the article:
"During their appeal, FOX asserted that there are no written rules against distorting news in the media. They argued that, under the First Amendment, broadcasters have the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on public airwaves. Fox attorneys did not dispute Akre's claim that they pressured her to broadcast a false story, they simply maintained that it was their right to do so."

Both the left leaning media & right leaning media CNN/FOX & most all others, are just as guilty as any one station, they are both not reporting news any longer they are just filling time slots. There hasn't been a reporter that I trust what they say sense Walter Cronkite (spelling?) the rest are just TV hosts......... :Twocents:
