Just curious how many Stern fans are in here and if anyone has listened to him on Sirrius yet. Ive been listening to him since the early 90s but do not have satellite radio and was wondering how his first day sounded.

I'm a fan but no SAT radio.  I did see a tvc deal say there were 600000 Sirius users and it jumped to 2.2 million when Howard announced his move.

I think the days of Lesbian dating game and when Billy West was on the show were  the best of times for Howard. I caught the last show and watched it on Yahoo.

today was more hype than comedic content. being the first show and all, they were busy doing press conferences and whatnot...also complaining about technical difficulties.

Still, once they get rolling, it should be pretty good. Listening to the Pat O'Brien tapes without the bleeps is quite an experience. Also, you can't go wrong with having George Takei as the announcer.

You mean you couldn't fill in those blanks before?   :shruggy:

You say it was quite the experience - you don't get out much do you Ponch!   :D

I can't stand him. I can't believe the FCC even lets him keep his crap on the radio. Man Cow is another one who is just as bad. :puke: I'm sure on 9/11 he made his share of sarcasm too.  :rotz:

I used to listen/watch howard on the radio and E! alot when I was younger.  Watched the movie Private Parts and laughed hysterically.  After a while though, his antics grew old and when he divorced his wife and started dating a porn star I realized he is nothing but a superficial, mid-life crisis loser.  Just my opinion of course.

I started listening to Howard when he was on NBC in New York City in the afternoons. I'd hear him coming home from work in the early to mid 1980's going from Long Island to New Jersey. I didn't realize at the time what was happening, but he was constantly talking about typical goofy stuff, battling with traffic reporters, weather announcers & never wanted to play music. I wasn't listening to AM radio for music, but I was amazed at the banter going on that had never happened on radio before. I don't recall being an actual Stern fan at first, mostly because I didn't know who he was & didn't listen regularly. At least not until I heard him tell the listeners that Donna Feduscia, (spelling?) who was the traffic reporter, was not wearing any panties & was in a glass bottom helicopter over the toll plaza of the Whitestone Bridge.  :smilielol:

It may not be the funniest comment in the world, but up until then, you never heard anything like that. I like his show, but don't have Sirius yet & will probably get it at some point. I do get bored with some of the same schtick on a regular basis, but he is funny. My favorite cast of characters when they were together were, Howard, Robin, Fred Norris, Billy West, Jackie (the Joke Man) Martling, Gary & Stuttering John. The Stuttering John celebrity interviews were my favorite part. It was great to see a stuffy, egotistical & completely unsuspecting celebrity get sucked into a goofy question. One of the most memorable ones was when Ringo Starr was doing his "All Starr" tour with a bunch of famous musicians.

All the reporters at the press conference were asking the typical boring & redundant questions.

"Who will be on tour with you Mr. Ringo?"
"What cities will you be stopping in Mr. Ringo?"
"Where did you come up with the idea for this particular song Mr. Ringo?"

And then Stuttering John asks, "What did you do with the money?"

"What money is that?" Ringo replies.

"The money your mother gave you for singing lessons." says Stuttering John.   :smilielol:

Howard, Robin, & the rest of the cast were in tears & couldn't believe they got John to ask a former Beatle a question like that. I laughed out loud in the car that morning.

Stuttering John was funny as hell. The Richard Simmons stuff was always great to.

Howard was the morning DJ in Detroit when I was in HS on WWWW.    He was cool when he was just starting out.   I met him once at some event at Harpo's.   Then the station changed to country because of too much competition and he got fired/quit and he moved off to wherever.   I haven't been able to really listen to him in the morning since because I'm between major markets and the mountains really play havoc with reception.

I watched his show sometimes on E mostly for the nekkid chicks.   I found his cast of freaks boring after awhile and I stopped watching for the most part.

I will NOT spend $13 a month to listen to radio now or in the near future.

"good morning", though it had been preceeded by Dan the Farter doing his thing to the tune of "Thus Spake Zarathustra" (the '2001' song) and Mr. Sulu's introduction.

He dated a porn star? When was this?

Did you and DCG ever actually listen to the show, or are you just opining based on what the AFA says you should say?

He used to call the traffic lady "donna fedouchebag"  she is now a legit anchor on one of the cable news channels, and "douchebag" is all I can think of when she's on.

and didn't anyone else catch the WKRP IN Cincinatti reference?  "Booger"  Dr. Johnny Fever said it when they changed from the oldies format to Rock.....Lonnie anderson......and the chick with the glasses, plain, but smoking hot body.....

I have heard him a few times. I used to drive semi over the road and heard him when I used to run to NYC a lot. He also was simucast (spelling) around here for a while. I didn't think he was funny then and I don't now. Well, actually, it is more then porn crap he has on. I personally don't feel it need to be one the radio where kids can hear it. And listening to porn does nothing for me if I can't see what is going on at least ::)

l like him, I think he's funny when he rants on Gary and use to like when Jackie the jokeman and Billy West were onboard, but I refuse to be part of his multi-million dollar compensation package. I need the 12.95/month more than he does. I'm just waiting on the side lines to see how high this 12.95 is going to turn into in the next couple of years. Sirius is just waiting for more fishes to jump on the boat! :icon_smile_big:

They used to have Howard on the radio here, and I listened to him every once in a while, but it just wasn't all that it is cracked up to be. He isn't that exciting to listen to. At least to me personally.

I have heard Stern quite a few times as I used to work on const. sites & someone always insisted on playing it, I had little choice. I never understood his show & dont care for it. Dont get me wrong, I like sarcastic "irreverant" humor like the Simpsons and such, but Stern always crossed the line of funny into the land of nasty and sick. Some things are funnier when they are just hinted at indirectly, he obviously is lost on this concept. Also, wasnt he originally "happily" married for years, whats up now? just a big idiot loser who probably lost all that was really important in life for the chance to date trash & act like everyone else in entertainment. I dont think he realizes that. I defend his right to be & even whatever crap he wants to sprew, but I dont have to like it or him. I think he's a jerk to be honest & I always thought he kind of disrespected his audience with his attitude. Biting the hand that feeds you is never cool....Needless to say I wont be listening. now I can find some ZZ Top or a conservative talk host on the dial easier....

'CUDA360

I never thought he was that funny but some of his interviews are interesting.. It's the same old crap from day to day though and it gets pretty boring

Looks like he is gonna sell some of his new Sirius stock already, I never said he was stupid...
