Hi @ all,

my name is Holger and I'm from Germany. I bought last year a '69 Charger R/T SE with a 440ci HP engine (The engine was rebuild with stock parts in 2004) and now I need more power and torque.

Engine: 440ci
Transmission: 4-speed
Rear Axle: 3.23
Power brakes (4 disc ssbc)
Power steering

I thought for the beginning I can do this:
-   Quick Fuel carb. 750cfm mec. Sec. with annular booster
-   FBO Ignition (full conversion)
-   TTI headers 1 7/8" polished ceramic coated
-   Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
-   A new camshaft kit, but I'm not sure which cam gain a lot of torque and hp. I've read about the engle k56 or maybe the comp cam kit K21-222-4

What do you think about the parts?
I don't drive higher than 5500rpm, so I will improve the low and mid range...

Greetings
Holger

I'd say you've done your homework.  A lower ratio final drive would help too.

Oh I forgot a point..

- gasket matching (intake - head)

Thanks!
That's true, but the 3.23 is a very good compromise for the german streets. In the City you can drive 35mls, outside the city 65mls and on the freeway as fast as the car runs  ;D

Is that only on the autobahn or any freeway in Germany?

Your plans sound good so far.

If you want to add a whole lot of power below 5500 RPMs, then get a "stroker" kit.  Replace the crankshaft/rods/pistons set to enlarge the engine's displacement to 500+ inches.

Challenger340

The Compression Ratio internal of the Engine, will be critical to Camshaft selection.

Do you know "what" Pistons were used in the rebuild ? What Cylinder Heads ?
Only wimps wear Bowties !

I know, but it is very expensive when I rebuild the hole engine with a stroker kit. In germany you pay about 15000$ for a good job.
I will have a low budget upgrade. All the things that I will do can I do by myself. But when I bore and hone the block I must go to a company...

:iagree:  ,
need more info
see you got a 4 speed  , can get away with a more radical cam then a auto for street use

:iagree:

....or give us the current cam specifics, and the current cranking cylinder pressure.

If you have good cylinder pressure, and solid, done right cylinder heads, it will make good power no matter what you put on after that (generally).  If the cylinder pressure is low, and it is a has factory heads (not that there is anything wrong with them, just no one will put the $1500 into them to make them right), it will likely be a turd no matter how much money you spend on carbs, manifold and headers... :Twocents:

If the cylinder pressure is low, and I had $2,000 to spend, I would put it into cylinder heads and try to kill two birds with one stone.

500" NA, Eddy head, pump gas, exhaust manifold with 2 1/2 exhaust with tailpipes
4150 lbs with driver, 3.23 gear, stock converter
11.68 @ 120.2 mph

V8-Rocker

I hope that works!
On the 3rd pic thats me

I don't no the exact spec. of the cam but I think it's Duration @.050: Intake- 208 exhaust- 221 (std. Mopar camshaft)
After the compression test I had on all cylinders between 158 - 163 psi preasure. I think thats very good and a small range  :2thumbs:
The heads are the 906, but today evening I check the exact cast number.

Thats true. Have a look at the german Moparshop (link)
http://server7.gs-shop.de/200/cgi-bin/shop.dll?AnbieterID=5140&Seite=frameset.htm&PKEY=BEF0
The description is in english an german, so you can read everything.
Look at the prices of the parts, it's in € (incl. shipping, tax, duty) and when you take the price x1.3 you have the dollar price.
For example the carb. 670€ = 878$  :'(
