I regret selling my 68

I always liked the "Dirty Marry Crazy Larry" Charger. In 1988 I was lucky enough to find a 1968 dodge charger for only $400. It needed a passenger side door and front fender.Other than that is was just door dings, and minor rust around rear window and lower quarters. It even had a non running 440 engine.
Projects came and went and I worked on the car off and on from 1988-2001? I did manage to change the tail light panel to a 69, and converted it to manual steering. But At the time I was more interested in working on my pro-street 1966 dodge charger, and my first 1966 charger that's been in the family since 1974.
I only have a 2 car garage and the 1968 charger was just sitting outside collecting dust and rust so I decided to sell it to somone that would do something with it. I don't know who has it now. But I do hope they are taking good care of it.

Ive posted a few photo's herehttp://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,6.0.html. These photo's are about 4 years old.Ive spent the last few years doing home improvements so neither one of my chargers is running now. The yellow one just needs a new fuel and brake system. The green pro-street Charger needs a new starter, and electrical work.  Im finished with all my home improvement projects, and have taken a break so Im going to get back to work on my chargers.

Im a low-mid budget kind of guy. Im into fixing Chargers to a "Daily Driver" status. I don't have the patience to restore a car to "show" quality, and if I did I would probably just want to keep it safe in the garage.

I was told last year that the plant I work at is either going to be sold or shut down. If we get sold then Ill have the money to buy another 68-70 Charger. So Im just waiting to find out something before I spend money on a car I really WANT but don't really need.

Welcome, I am sure we can fit you in to another charger if you hang out here long enough. Again welcome!

Yes, after selling my 1968 Dodge charger 16 years ago I found it and bought it back. I have spent the last 7 years looking for it on a daily basis. I found it on ebay about 2 months ago. I watched the bidding reach over $12000. I did not bid because I just did not have that much. The car was relisted because the buyer could not come up with the money. The second buyer was a scammer so I talked to the owner and bought it for an even $10,000. I live in VA and the car was in PA 330 miles away. I talked to a guy I work with and he brought it home for $500.
The only plan I have for the car now it to put it in the garage and keep it up.

Changes to Car since I sold it.
1.Car has been sprayed in black primer.
2.Wheels have been changed.
3.Back seat is missing
4.Somone put a 440 engine in it. I hope it runs! :) No engine in it when I sold it.
5.Front drivers side fender has been changed. New one is not as nice as original one I had on car.
6.Grill has been re-assembled and put back in car. When I sold car grill was in pieces and in trunk.
I think that is all of the changes.

I will take some more photo's this weekend if the weather is ok.

ADVICE. If you are thinking about selling you Charger and really don't have to. DON'T DO IT! I was lucky enough to find mine again and afford to buy it back. You may not be. Still, it is going to take me about a year to put my money back in the bank that I took out to re-buy a car I should have
NEVER sold.

Yes congrats.  :2thumbs:

By the looks of the pic even at today's crazy prices for 2nd gen Chargers you got a great deal on the buy back. I know it sounds strange considering you only paid $500.00 originally.

I've seen hella worst for 2X money.

Thanks for the strong advice.

Next year when you get back at it, are going to switch it to a 69? Or keep it 68?

Sublime/Sixpack

That's great that you were actually able to find it, and then buy it back. Now don't slip up and sell it again.   ;D

So happy for you. Looks like a great car.  :2thumbs:

Mine doesn't get as much love as I would like it to get these days since the family and other projects keep pulling me away.  That will change though.
