What a long 5 years its been since the 40th in MI.

Well I'm finally ready to hit the road and tomorrow morning the wife and I will be heading out. The rain mother nature is going to give me is not the send off I had hoped for but it will definately test my weather stripping.

I plan to hit Alburn Hills MI on Friday the 10th around afternoon time. Between now and then I have just over 2700 miles to cover and a few friends to meet up with along the way.

I have created a blog site and hope to be able to update it along the way at night when I stop for the evening.

Look forward to seeing the power tour guys at CEMA. Be sure you introduce yourself.

Now you've started it.   I'll take a little keepsake from Mt. Rushmore. Last time I was there I was 10 and heading for summer vacation with the Grandparents in Minneapolis.

Sounds like you made it to the cities OK.  Was hearing of roads buckling in the Twin Cities from the heat.  Hopefully you steered clear of them and kept the Charger in one piece.
Was good to meet and visit with you and Marie yesterday.  Anytime your in Minnesota again call.
Thanks again for the souvenirs, the kids were fighting over the baseball!

We saw one piece of road pushed up and a local transportation truck had it coned off to close that lane of the freeway.

In CA its not uncommon to have the road buckle due to severe heat

Sounds like a great trip so far Steve, really enjoying your blog and travel pics.

There was only 1 Charger in the place a only few other Mopars, there were lots of Camaros, Mustanges and Corvettes

Thanks again Jim for hanging out after you got off work to meet up with us.

We did Jim, Its great to be home again.
We had a great time on the road and met a lot of great people such as yourself.

Now the work of cleaning up and fixing what I broke will begin.

I ran over a rock today that I though I would easily clear and it hit the exhaust pretty hard. I think I now have and exhaust leak. Charger also needs a bath and a oil change. Trailer is going to take a little more work to repair.

Over all the problems durring the trip were very minor and I'm so proud that the Charger did almost everything asked of it and got My Wife and I home safe and sound. The trip also pointed out some weak points in my rebuild that I will be revisiting again.

I'm hoping to get the Charger cleaned up and fixed for the car show Saturday to hook up with some board members.

-Steve

GPULLER

Good to hear you are home Steve.  Never had a doubt the car would make it, like you said you've rebuilt almost every thing on the car.  Did the rear door of the trailer hold the rest of the trip?
I think you should leave the car "as is" from the trip, take the car and trailer to the show.

ChgrSteve67

After my road repair on the trailer it held togher for the rest of the trip. I need to find the exhaust leak on the car and change the oil. I took the Charger and trailer to the same show last year and people did not have much interest in it.

I think I need to get off my ass and go to the store and put some food in the house.

ODZKing

Oh yeah, it's fun to travel but always great to be home ... safely.
It was wonderful spending time with you and Marie.
Next venture ... we gotta get you to Carlisle one year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :2thumbs:

ChgrSteve67

If we do I think I will ship the Charger to you rather than drive it across the US.

We will also see what is going to happen for the 50th.

ChgrSteve67

Here are a few pics of the Charger on the Mother road.

Very nice blog.

I also got a pic of my charger in front of the Chrysler museum. Its my favorite picture I have of my Charger. I blew mine up to poster size and it is on the wall of my living room.
