Well it looks a lot different now. It is about ready for paint and then reassembly. The engine and trans are done and on the K frame. It has been a real slow process. By the way how is Joe doing? Also I read that there is another daytona list that tells the stripe colors too. How would I go about finding that?...Thanks

From checking nascarxx29's link to the other thread, and based on C5X DAYTONA's reply #6, are the original stripe colors for Daytonas known?  C5X DAYTONA was talking about another list that includes more information including original stripe color and "if it was a show car, Firm Car, Press Car and which Grand National drivers got them.  Even tells which cars were reassigned and so on."

OK, I'm not really sure.  It is my understanding that that list from Winged Warriors was compiled from observations over the years.  To me, it sounded like C5X DAYTONA knew of some documentation list "from the factory."

Is there any true documentation about the original stripe color for Daytonas?  I have always wondered about the Don Hicks Daytona because it was Black/Black Interior but had a red stripe, while I thought that color combination called for a white stripe.  (And I'm definitely not making any claim that it wasn't originally red, I just always wondered about it.)

Then that's one of the two cars I know of with PW and cruise.  That VIN does appear in the [[[[Dealer Invoice list published through the WW/NBOA]]]], and it's in the middle of a run of consecutive VINs so there's no doubt in my mind about the car's authenticity

Not really.

The WW/NBOA Dealer Invoice List was transcribed from the original document, that no one else (apart from the club's officers and maybe a few others) has been able to see since it was obtained.  I asked Sue & Ed George at one time if the original would be made available too, but so far that hasn't happened.

So far, the original-condition cars I've spot checked against the Invoice List have matched with the stripe colors listed, but I still would not hold out that source as the definitive answer to the question "what color stripe & wing did a particular car originally have".

Ordering Instructions for a Daytona stated that the stripe color could be designated, and it was possible to omit the stripe entirely (at least one such car reportedly exists).  I don't see any rules for "this stripe goes with this color combo" information anywhere, and even the "stripe color matches the interior" axiom/rule-of-thumb doesn't necessarily match up on unrestored cars with black/white/red interiors (other available interior colors obviously had to do something different).

When there's no definitive way to prove what color stripe a car had -- apart from pre-restoration photographic evidence -- then there's no way to say that whatever color a guy wants to put on his car is wrong.  David Patik has an unrestored green (I think it's a C500, not sure which shade of green) with a red stripe.  THAT would be unusual...

BTW, welcome to the site, Tony.   It was good catching up with you on the phone the other day, and I'm still glad to hear that things are progressing on your Daytona.  That will be one awesome ride when it's done.

OK, so apparently that is the list that nascarxx29 posted too, but I only see page 15.  I tried to look at the other links that were provided, but didn't see the Winged Warriors list with the stripe colors and the other columns.  Is there any way to post the previous 14 pages?  Or is page 15 the only one that has been released?  I tried to look it up even on the Winged Warriors website, but couldn't find anything there either.
