Changing interior color on a C500

Changin the interior color on the C500?

Keep the inside green
Do the white seats and doors

C500

My car is an F8 green, green guts car. This seems to be the most common combo of the 500's. I'm leaning towards changing the interior to white. The white seats look awesome, especially with the dark color paints.

My car has the fender tag, matching engine and trans but has new AMD full quarters, new trunk floor...basically new steel throughout the rear. It's not a survivor, but I do want to keep everything looking pretty original. I bought new Legendary upper door pads in green already.

That said, assuming a C500 came out with F8 green paint, white seats, white door panels with white upper door pads, green dash....would the console, kick panels, A pillar moldings and carpet be green also?

Although my car should have green interior, I want the white look and for it to be as the factory would have with the rest of the interior. Here's how I suspect it would have been done with F8

White: Seats, door panels, upper door pads, headrests, armrests, windlace molding
Green: Carpet, console, A pillar trim, kick panels, headliner
Seatbelts??

Do you guys think the car should remain green on green? Just curious.

Thanks, Dunk

I think I would go for the white gut. An interior color change is much easier to reverse then a body color change.

Yes, good point.

The white would really pop on the green. Can't stop thinking about it.

I think white would be awesome looking.... Not sure on the dash and console color. Some white interior cars got colored Dashes/console to match the car. It wasn't always black........... I know Chris might know..........

Green interior got you green all over...as did all the other colors except white (you got a mixture of white & black...the above pic you posted has the correct color combo)

PS---I voted for the white

I like the contrast between interior and exterior, but I voted for Green because it's easier to keep clean! I think the white would be more visually attractive, though.

Two other choices would be Tan or the C5X Black with cloth inserts.  They were both approved choices back in 1969.  I don't know what the current consensus is about those choices.

I would keep it green. I love green interiors.

I know lots of people do not like the F8 green, green interior cars, but for value the original colors are the way to go. I personally looked at one in Ventura Calif. Numbers car with F8 green and green interior. The tough part was the white stripe. If I could for fun I would have maybe changed the stripe to black, but an easy fix back to white.I even had a suggestion of red. Good Christmas car!
You have a car with a very low number left in the world. The highest option Hemi daytona is F8 green with green interior. It looks good. I understand it now has a white vinyl top which it had put on when new

Last year at Minnesota June car show there was a bronze Hemi Charger 500. It was color changed to black with red stripe. Great color choices but it was affecting the value andI believe the interior now black should have been tan.Nice car but I walked.

Ultimately it is your choice, but I found a Charger 500 in Canada. R4 red with white interior. Interior was changed to black. Price was up there but the interior .color change held it back.

You have nice car. If there is a devation from original, be prepared to get questions on the change from true Mopar diehards.

I think what it comes down to is whether you plan on keeping this car or selling down the road. It will effect the value with most people. I know I would consider it a deduction. The white looks better all the way. Me I would leave it the way it is.

C500

Thanks for the comments everyone.

There's no plans on selling it any time soon. I think the value would be affected only with the purists if I sold her IMO, but they're a small minority.

It's a pity white seats with green paint is supposed to be a black console, carpet and dash.

  ;)

yeah what about try just white seats & inner side panels  leaving the rest green !! although thinking about it  , it will look made up sort of thing, or should i say  not a option factory type interior ,as anyone who knows 69 chargers , will know its custom , & may be not fitting with the rest of the car  if you know what i mean  , prolly look good  !!  :coolgleamA: :shruggy: :scratchchin: :popcrn:

If I run with it, I'll do the seats, upper door pads and door panels in white. I'll keep the carpet, console, dash and seatbelts in green. Although not the correct factory look  :rotz: , I think that will actually look better than black console and dash that the factory would send.

Im down for White Bud, but I'm having a struggle with the green headliner staying in so I would humbly opt for the complete Arctic Blast look , just me tho  :scratchchin:

I'm hearing ya. Already got the headliner too  :-\ . It's a 500/Daytona specific one. It's green, but pretty dark. I'll keep it, especially with the package tray and pillar moldings being green in correct form for white or green guts.

Any news Bob?  :popcrn:

while i can understand the allure of a white interior, im of the mindset that any given body color can be found with it. the body color seat combinations seem more unique and less common than both black and white, across the color spectrum. superbirds being limited to either black or white interiors, is just another of the many things that i think sets the 500/daytona at a much higher desirability level. thinking back, can you visualize how crazy it might have been if superbirds had offered body color interior trim...

I don't think it's going to look right with green and white mixed interior pieces (keeping green dash dash, A-pillar, etc.), therefore my vote would be to stick with Green. I really admire cars with non-black or non-white interiors as they are 1) less common, and 2) more difficult to maintain and match colors when restoring.

do it in all white. i love black or white interiors. my 70 500 had that ugly b5 intreior. looked like a cheap carnival ride. couldnot wait to have it removed. re did it all in black velour. so much better looking. but then i couldnot care less about keeping my car  factory.  build your car your way. if someone buys it later they can put it back to green.

Indeed common combo with all those green and red cars I guess  Regardless of that stigma, with the numbers and tag info pulling your car towards a well documented car, it will help your kids sell it when you die an old man.  I struggled with my F8 500 (when I was looking at building it) and landed on the combo "feels" right to me, green on green with white stripe.  I mean, even green or red car, how many other 500s with the same color combo you gona cross path with anyway and even if you do what a cool photo opportunity.  Years ago I met a guy with a F6RT with white interior car and he indicated he re-died some pcs every other year or so, with that. I took away that wear pcs like seats, door panels, pulls and such would really need to be new vinyl, even then.. still less friendly for everyday use and at that time not much was available new.  Several comments above have some good points, choose wisely...... as you want it.  For what is worth, my vote is chase the original green.
