I have a 2007 dodge charger with the new srt 8 rims, im planning on lowering it 1.5 do i need to change the tire size from a 245-45-20.

I would try a new generation Charger forum, this one is primarily classic '66 to mis '70's.

I don't see why you would NEED to change tires. Lowering a car doesn't affect the speedometer or tire diameter. Maybe I understood this wrong?
The reason that many people go to different tires is because they want a tire with a lower profile to get better handling. Most modern tires are light years ahead of tire technology of the 70s. The Stock 17 or 18 inch tires handle much better than our old 14 or 15 inch bias ply skins.
In closing, you should only need to change tires if YOU want to. Its your car. Oh, and although I am a rabid Musclecar fan, I think that you new car guys should be welcome on the site.....
