Well tuesday I picked up my parts car for my 1971 Superbee. The car I picked up was a 1971 charger se. It was a 383 2 barrel car, gunmetal grey, gunmetalish blueish interior, black vinyl top with a bunch of weird options.I bought the car from a local auction of a salvage yard that closed up. The pics here are from the auction and this car has sat in this exact spot since 1979. The only part missing from the car is the front bumper. I really hate to kill this car but its really really really rusty.  I will snap some more pics but here is what I have so far.

Oh yeah for sure, I only have some pictures of the car and will have better later.

My bee is a factory citron yella, black inside, black top,383 w ac, auto, factory defrost, rear speaker, tach dash. Im going for factory look with some day 2 appeal ( asen slots, air shocks) I also am powdercoating everything under the car here are the drums, I have to get a picture of the powdercoated rear suspension installed.

The parts car is a 1971 charger S.E 383 ac, gunmetal grey outside, gunmetalish grey leather/ black insides, black vinyl halo top. It has buckets, console, defrost, rear speaker, ralley wheels, with manual
drum brakes, basic three spoke steering wheel. I would of thought it would of had at least power drum
brakes. No I didn't pay the price on the windshield

I think citron yella is my favorite color for '71.  Your parts car looks like it has Washington state plates?

I always thought you had a black 'cuda with red interior?

Thank you years ago my dad didn't like the orignal color ( citron yellow) and he almost pänted the car red, I told him it would horribly hurt the value so it went back to orignal. Yep I have the cuda also. Here is the story about both cars. When I was 14 I had some money saved for my first car I had been collecting for years. I had about $3500 saved and started looking for a car. So I had a decision to make buy a decent car for the full $3500 or buy a cheap piece of crap and get a mopar muscle car. So I bought a 85 eagle wagon for $300.00 that was actually a decent car and went on the hunt. I looked and looked around and only found really rusty junk ( this was the mid ninties when they were still available at decent prices). I found this ad for a 1971 superbee and we went to grand marias mn to look at it. The car was wearing washington plates, its orignal beat up paint but had perfect black interior ( to my dads liking) the motor was rebuilt and same with the trans. I bought the car for $2,750 and had it transported home. My cousin was going to school for autobody and my dad decided to have him paint it.So we had the car blasted and sent it his way. While the car was being painted my dad told me about this cuda our suspension guy had for sale. It was my 70 cuda and he wanted $8,000 for it and he was asking if it was a good deal. I said Naw you can get one cheaper and that's was it for a while. Well time kept passing on the paint job for the superbee and more excuses were being made. I was getting mad and started being veribally abuseive to my cousin. About a year and half later we get a call from our suspension guy asking if we would be interested in the cuda again. Well as it turns out the guy that orignally bought the car was a major addict and he beat the pies out of the car and even drove the car through the winter. The car ended up at the minneapolis impound lot and my mechanic friend got a letter as the drug dealer never transferred the title. So the druggie tryin to make a quick get away signed all his rights over to the car for some cash. Well my dad de used he wanted the superbee and traded me the cuda for it. So finally after 14 years of excuses and lying the superbee finally got painted. The car arrived home and my dad was so discusted with the whole paint process he said to me " either you take the car or im selling it" so I have owned both for roughly 14-16 years and they are never going to dissepear from my ownership.
The parts car has 1979 vintage mn plates

The cuda on the fender tag is supposed to be black with red interior but the old owner converted the inside to black inthe early nineties. When I tear the car down for resto it will be red inside again.

Wow, you see cars in that combination but rarely do they come from the factory like that.  A red hockey stripe would really set it off.   :yesnod:

You're calling it a 'cuda so is it an original small or big block?  I like all flavors of Mopar, even the new Charger.  I've always liked e body's a little more so I've had one the past 6 years or so to go with the Charger.

To me, your 'cuda would be on the very desirable side of 'cudas' out there.

It's your thread so we're not hijacking it.  ;)

What yard was that that's closing down?  I just heard the mopar yard in Niederald is about to go as well.

no hijacking at all its a real cuda, factory 383 4 speed car.none of the numbers match on the engine and
trans but its my baby.right now its kinda of a rat from being beat to death by its old owner ( I can't say I don't have my fun with it). Once the bee is done and driving it time for the cuda to go on its rotessery. Thank you for your kind words on my cars and tell me about your charger.

It was called Bills auto parts in Newport Mn. If you know Newport it was the place with the whale car out front. There were a couple mopars out there (2 66-67 charger, one dart gt with highpo 273 complete from air clear to pan, couple of early darts, and my 71 charger)

If I was in the position to buy a car I'd be all over your 'cuda if you haven't figured that out.   ;)   Does it have a stripe package?

Well thank you but I cannot ever sell that car. It really is almost part of me lol. It didn't have stripes it had the door ding trim with the pin stripe going around it ( I think it might have been red if I remember right. Oh well they all cannot have all the cool options lol. Really really nice charger you have there.
