rear window trim

Anybody have any tips on how to install the rear window trim on a 69 charger before I totally ruin the paintjob on this thing?

Took little bits of masking tape to mark where each clip was on the car, set my trim in place, then using a plastic block and a body hammer, tapped the trim down in place.

 done the same sort of thing ,  but use electrical insulating tape along the whole length , not too far in other wise will be difficult to pull way when stainless trim is in place ,  marking  where the clips are  also !
put a blob of  heave grease on each clip !! thought it would be a good idea (yeah i'm nutts )   used a block of wood to spread the load of whacking (well using the palm of my hand ! ) the trim into place  might have to use rubber mallet for really tight  clips  , but the grease makes them easier

If you have a molding clip release tool you can slide it under the molding and bend the clip outwards temporarily while you press the molding down into place.
The tape is a good idea btw

Any certain spot you guys started at?  did you assemble the entire thing first and try it all at once I guess......Finally, the small corner pieces, iam assuming the longer ends face up is that correct?  I gotta redo this stuff again, I scratched the new paint in two spots and the trim isnt seating right at the connections....not happy at all.

I just put mine on by assembling the left and right pieces and started on the center left and then out from there.....

I have yet to install, but assembling first you can fit the joints tighter.
