Hey all,

I've got a '73 Charger with a stock 318 in it. This part number, 2320 doesn't appear to exist, yet it's stamped on the side of my Carter 2bbl that needs rebuilding. I'm looking for a kit, but now I'm wondering if I need to replace it instead, since I'm not finding a kit. A little help?

I know exactly what you need. I got mine from "AAAAutomotive" or something it's an online store, it's a Carter BBD and should be about $150. Mine showed up in the mail in 4 days. Bolted it on and it's still good 18 months later.

Fried all the electricals two weeks after purchase
Set on fire ~twice~
Overheated til it would diesel a full five minutes ~twice~

Never once didn't start, never stranded me, never once did not take me where I needed to go. Daily driver of 4+ years.

Currently undergoing 413/727 swap after I finally beat the 318 til it lost a headgasket. The kicker is the 318 still cranks and runs like nothing is wrong. I love my ca

Thanks Grim- you had the same setup, then? Was the company AAA Auto Salvage? I couldn't find anything on their site. Can I just replace it with anything that works on a 318?

Man, five "A"s. And it's the whole carb. There is also a Holley that will fit but I bought this instead so I have no idea if it would be better, I am honestly not fond of the 318. Can't knock it's dependability though. My 1973 Charger was factory a 2bbl 318 with a 904a tranny no vinyl and fixed full sized quarter windows, originally blue exterior and a B5 blue interior. I am currently building a 440/727 for him. It was also a 8 1/4 rear, which I am swapping for a 8 3/4 from a 73 New Yorker. Oh, and your part number, I wouldn't worry about it. I distinctly remember my last Carter BBD having a sticker on it with a Holley logo and number that just got me lost.

A buddy of mine located a carb identical to mine andwe bolted it on yesterday. It runs much better. Also need to replace the vacuum advance, and the plenum is full of carbon, so we'll eventually have to pull the intake manifold and chip that crap out. I want to replace the 318 with a 360 down the road. The 318 just doesn't feel like it's got the torque to move this big car out.

Thanks for the help! (I drive mine every day too!)
